Managed to get an extension on my deposit deadline. Maryland is still the most attractive local market option for me, plus they've been really friendly and responsive to all of my requests/inquiries. Still waiting for decisions from a few other schools, unfortunately.

I was given a deadline extension as well. Do you have any extenuating circumstances? For instance, I'm still in the middle of scholarship negotiation talks with UM and told them that seat deposits are difficult for me financially, and they were nice enough to award me a 2-week extension based on that.muskies970 wrote:any advice on how you were able to do that?deuceindc wrote:Managed to get an extension on my deposit deadline. Deposited. Has anyone else heard back about financial aid, aside from scholarship info?

Tell them why you need more time. I'm waiting to hear back from a couple of other schools but think MD could be the place I end up, and want to make the best-informed decision I can. I told them as much and they got back to me a few days later.muskies970 wrote:any advice on how you were able to do that?deuceindc wrote:Managed to get an extension on my deposit deadline. That said, it might be too late to get an extension at this point - you're asking them to decide and then get back to you within business hours on Monday.

Just submitted my tuition deposit. In light of the lower tuition than other schools, and the Leadership Scholars Award, Maryland was worth putting down the $250 to see what happens.

I withdrew my Leadership Scholars Award... even with the low tuition and the scholarship, I still can't afford... feel so bad for myselfgitguy wrote:Just submitted my tuition deposit. Ouch. I would just explain to FinAid what happened and hope it can be resolved.espressocream wrote:Put down the wrong UMD on my FAFSA. How screwed do you guys think I am? I meant to call today but being MST I spaced and missed out.

Just called. They use the initial date of submission regardless of whether you put down the school or not. Phew. I'd advise everyone else to double check.gitguy wrote:Ouch. So I'm not sure if my file was placed in the shredder by accident lol...I've been in review for almost the full 8 weeks, and my file was complete Feb 1st. Both numbers are below median, so this is a reach, but at this point I just want to KNOW!! ok now I fell better after venting to all of you

My status says "Decision Made". Any idea as to how long it takes to actually receive the decision?

From reading prior posts, it looks like people are getting emails (at least the admitted applicants) when did you go in review?

Re: University of Maryland c/o 2016
So this is the last school I'm waiting on, and a couple deposit deadlines are due on Monday. If I was to get an offer here, I would withdraw everywhere else. My application went in review early February, and it has been more than 8 weeks (that's the timeline they sent me in an email update early on). Do you guys think it's ok if I send them an email asking them about an estimated decision timeline along with including the information above? I'm asking because I called 2 weeks ago, and was not really given an answer, so I really don't want to be a pest, but I really want to know. Anyways, thank you all for your help.

Yeah, I would say dropping them a line is a good idea. Especially to communicate your continued interest. I did the same thing and shortly got an acceptance.Snowboarder1588 wrote:So this is the last school I'm waiting on, and a couple deposit deadlines are due on Monday. Re: University of Maryland c/o 2016
I received an email yesterday about a scholarship interview. If I have an interview, my seat deposit will be due on the 29th (I already missed the April 1st seat deposit deadline)...anyone who applied and got into the part time program have an interview?
for those of you who had interviews, in your opinion, is it appropriate to talk about other offers? I feel mixed about talking about it after reading this thread. what kinds of questions do they ask? i'm guessing they ask you why you want to attend UMD and what makes you a good fit for UMD.

1. Why law school?
2. Why Maryland?
3. What other options and offers do you have?

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
