Youre definitely not an auto reject with a 3.8+ LSAC GPA.
2 classmates I know of had low 150s/3.8+ and got in.
Really? I was on lawschoolnumbers and it looks like it'd be hit or miss for me. :-/ seems like some people with similar numbers got waitlisted while others flat out rejected. Most of the people who got waitlisted are URM.
Btw. LSAC Gpa is 3.76. (Exact same as my school gpa).. 3.8 was the closest round off.

so I'm a little below median (-.04).

Based on what i have heard and observed, the median GPA is expected to drop in order to save the 167 LSAT median... So 3.75+ still might do the trick

Oh. Well.. I'm about to kill their school's median. I was looking at LSAC. 25th percentile 157 75th percentile 167. And median 167. Wtf.. The 75th percentile IS the median!?

Same here. What's your last UR date? Mine is 2/1.
Same thing, 2/1.
I got a very nice scholarship offer from another school I'm heavily considering today, so less pressure... still hoping Minnesota A) accepts me and B) offers a comparable scholarship as it is easily my top choice.
Wish finances didn't have to play such a big part!

Do you have any idea how U of MN Law perceives this application cycle? Are they struggling with numbers like everyone else? Do they anticipate attracting enough high scoring applicants?

To everyone discussing the weather earlier ITT, my first sighting of someone wearing shorts for the year occurred today. High was a balmy 30.

My status date updated to 2/12 after having been 2/4. First movement I've seen in any of my apps... Anyone been able to piece together how many times the date updates before they get back to you?

Last year their apps fell at about the same pace as the national average. To maintain their medians they cut their class size from 250 to 205. Its fair to assume apps will be down again this year too. No one really knows what the ad comms are going to do... but from what I have gathered, a likely senario is letting the GPA median slip a bit and cutting class size further to maintain the 167 median. If they give up on the 167, I would imagine a flood of 166s from the waitlist will get in.

I'm at (what appears to be) the magic number 167, and my application has gone
under review - 1/22
under review - 2/1
and remains at that today, so I don't think I'm much help

Is it positive or negative to have a more recent update?

No still 2/1, but I was just wondering in comparison to people whose statuses are stuck on an earlier date.

In via phone call this afternoon. (Found out about the other half of the Joint Degree Program a few weeks ago, so I'm also in for the JDP now too.)

Yes - Law and Life Science. MS-STEP from Humphrey. UR 2/4. Saw it bump to 2/12 and got the call today. No scholarship information yet; I wonder how the JDP program's scholarships decisions work in conjunction with the general admissions office. Once I get my packet I'm sure I'll find out.

Joining this thread late, I know... but I was just waitlisted at MN today- anyone have an idea how likely it is to get off of their waitlist? And how long it might take? I plan on sending a LOCI early next week...

Conventional wisdom from this and last years thread is to be above a median.
How did you find out you were waitlisted? Email?

Yes, I received an email earlier this evening. I am not above either median, unfortunately. Do you think it is still worthwhile to send a LOCI or am I lost cause?
I do have significant work experience, strong letters of recommendation, strong 'overcoming adversity' personal statement... I think it's these things that have carried me this far. But, from what your saying, it sounds like these won't be enough to get me off of the waitlist?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
