26k/year with 3.15 stip. Do you think 70% really are above 3.15?

It's statistics, I doubt they would outright lie about them. I don't find it hard to believe that, at a top30 law school, only 30% of students have less than a 3.15.coldshoulder wrote:26k/year with 3.15 stip. Do you think 70% really are above 3.15?

I know this is pretty outdated, but it gives an idea of the grade distribution.coldshoulder wrote:26k/year with 3.15 stip. Do you think 70% really are above 3.15?

I don't know what the best one is, but I think I'm going to the second one--March 16&17.T00L wrote:Congrats to all recent scholly winners/acceptances!

I'm planning on going down in February.
Really leaning towards attending W&L and I'm hoping that the ASW will seal the deal for me.

Do you think you'll end up attending? I got the same offer and it's coming down to either w&l or w&m for me.ganggreen wrote:40k/year 3.25 stip. Really excited!!

Re: W&L c/o 2015
Too early to say but it's definitely at the top of my list -- depends on if I get $ from BC, BU, or Fordham (but not expecting much from them). I love W&M but I only got $12k/year, plus W&L's employment stats are arguably better...overkillhsc wrote:Do you think you'll end up attending? Not sure if you can access this page if you aren't a current student... but here's a much more recent reference for grade distributions:btw384 wrote:I know this is pretty outdated, but it gives an idea of the grade distribution.coldshoulder wrote:26k/year with 3.15 stip. The 3.25 stip for 40k/yr is not all that bad just gotta be in the top 60%. great find.wl1l wrote:Not sure if you can access this page if you aren't a current student... but here's a much more recent reference for grade distributions:btw384 wrote:I know this is pretty outdated, but it gives an idea of the grade distribution.coldshoulder wrote:26k/year with 3.15 stip. Damn, 40k is amazing! I'm thinking the second ASW myself, and also hoping to look for housing at that point. I wonder if I'll be able to negotiate for more moneyz...
Also, thanks for the grade distributions! Very comforting.

For those of you who are in my situation or a similar one (should be plenty of va residents, at least), this should prove interesting:

My family's lawyer, a UGA law grad, told me w & m's reputation is greater nationally, but at least according to this site, w & l has actually been ranked higher in general in the last couple of decades.

You shouldn't be deciding on a law school based on its ranking.

Re: W&L c/o 2015
I wouldn't use LST as a barometer for placement statistics, as they are out of date. Their latest stats are from 2009, when the market was in much better shape. WL and WM are definitely peer schools, though, so I would take the cheaper of the two. These are the latest placement stats from WL class of 2010: http://law.wlu.edu/deptimages/Career%20 ... howPGF.pdfganggreen wrote:Too early to say but it's definitely at the top of my list -- depends on if I get $ from BC, BU, or Fordham (but not expecting much from them). Notice that while most did find jobs, only ~20/111 got jobs that paid 90k+.

Edit: these are the placement stats for WM c/o 2010: http://law.wm.edu/careerservices/docume ... ofile1.pdf
Median salary: 60k, with only 81% of class reporting income. Yikes. If the choice was between the two, I would def. take the cheaper option.

So their email said they mailed scholarship info on December 16th...no sign of it at my temporary or permanent address. Should I give the admissions office a call?

Just got to check my mailbox in Austin, 40k w/ the 3.25 stip. If you're going to the Feb. ASW, I'll be the guy wearing cowboy boots

They send you an e-mail on the exact day they will inform you your decision ... on that day they will then send you the time they will release decisionsashley12 wrote:Looks like next Thursday will be the day for those of us still waiting. No real reason for F5

There will probably be two of us wearing cowboy boots. You will probably be the good looking one, though.hookem7 wrote:Just got to check my mailbox in Austin, 40k w/ the 3.25 stip. If you're going to the Feb. ASW, I'll be the guy wearing cowboy boots

That being said - the statistics are very similar: about 60% of each class with "good employment" and about 20-25% of the class at big firms or A3 Judicial clerkships
Also, is looks like both of these schools put about 25% of their students in judicial clerkships which should skew the salaries down a bit, shouldn't it?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
