Agreed. As soon as I start seeing waves of people accepted here or on LSN then I'll start worrying, but for now I think they are just slow - so keep the faith!Adjudicator wrote:Well I'm definitely worried. But all in all, despite the early acceptances here and there, it feels like UW hasn't really started the first wave of decisions yet. I don't think this ship has sailed, yet.chicityteacher wrote:All of these early notifications seem to be acceptances. If we have been in review since 12/1, when should we start worrying about getting waitlisted/rejected?
Thoughts?

Sorry I am late to the party. I am in the decision 1/25 group as well. I am sure I'll get my letter after everyone because I live far away and mail sucks in my building, but if that is not the case, I'll post what happens.

Yeah, I'm living in Seattle right now... I haven't lived here very long but I applied as in-state and I should meet all of the criteria.ArchRoark wrote:They are saving us super splitters for next batch. I heard that UW doesn't weight GPA as much as LSAT, AND that they tend to reward interesting softs. I don't know to what degree this is actually true, however. There is always the possibility that this is just conjecture (as is most of the "advice" on these forums).
Anyways, Adjudicator, if you lose it, I'm going to lose it. Keep it together.

To be honest, I've been thinking about it a lot and if I don't get in to UW this cycle, I might not go to law school next fall at all. That's how certain I am that I want to attend UW.

Just because I want to live in Seattle and I don't think that any other comparably-ranked school would get me in to the Seattle market. And I'm not confident that Seattle University will land me good job prospects.Aggiegrad2011 wrote:Why do you want to attend UW so especially much?Adjudicator wrote:To be honest, I've been thinking about it a lot and if I don't get in to UW this cycle, I might not go to law school next fall at all. HYS are out of the question, so UW is my best bet for Seattle. And this is where I want to settle down, for real. I have zero interest in moving east, or in moving back to Cali, either.

Fair - So there's nothing particularly remarkable about W that makes you so inclined to go there... besides their locale?Adjudicator wrote:Just because I want to live in Seattle and I don't think that any other comparably-ranked school would get me in to the Seattle market. I love Seattle and I know what UW means in this community; it is THE school around here and I want to be a part of that network. Every day I see people wearing purple sweaters or "W" hats and I wish I could represent that, too.Aggiegrad2011 wrote:Fair - So there's nothing particularly remarkable about W that makes you so inclined to go there... besides their locale?Adjudicator wrote:Just because I want to live in Seattle and I don't think that any other comparably-ranked school would get me in to the Seattle market. Yeah, Adjudicator, I could not agree more. I grew up near Seattle, I went to undergrad in Oregon, and I have been living in Chicago for the last few years. All the while, I have just been longing to go back. Its funny because I was just telling my friends the same thing the other night -- If i don't get in to UW I will probably re-take and apply next cycle.
It is strange you are so nervous. I feel like with that LSAT you should be fine, but then again, I have no idea how much the GPA is going to be a factor.
And yes, a lot of people on here have some interesting softs, which I am definitely counting on. My numbers are nothing special (3.54/163) but I have been teaching High School English on Chicago's south side for the last few years through Teach for America (do people know what TFA is? I feel like a lot of people don't. Google it.). What is frustrating me is I feel like if i could have bumped my LSAT up even 2 or 3 points, I would probably be a lock. Now, I'm not so sure. Maybe 50/50.
Anyways, if we both get in, we should meet up at some point.

I'm on the same boat as you guys. I feel like I'm right on the cusp of getting in or being denied. My numbers are slightly more in range with the school (3.58, 166) and I guess my softs aren't that bad - 2 years of banking experience after UG, but LSP puts UW as a "consider" for me, which isn't all that promising. =(chicityteacher wrote:Adjudicator wrote:Just because I want to live in Seattle and I don't think that any other comparably-ranked school would get me in to the Seattle market. BTW, @chicity - I've heard of TFA. It's a really prestigious 2 year teaching program around the nation, right? That's a huge soft booster! Best of luck to you!

Re: U Washington 2011 Applicants
You are spot on when it comes to the Seattle market. Unless a person attends UW (or SU to some extent), it is extremely difficult to find a job here. I have a friend who grew up in the area, attended UW for undergrad, and went to Notre Dame for law school. Rather than taking an internship opportunity in Indiana, she opted to come back to Seattle. She is now having a difficult time finding a job, and a lot of that is because the city is ruled be attorneys who attended UW. It sucks, but it's the reality of the economy right now.Adjudicator wrote:Just because I want to live in Seattle and I don't think that any other comparably-ranked school would get me in to the Seattle market. TFA is a great soft and I am sure adcomms know about it. Most schools have specific scholarships for TFA alummni. It is also one of the few reasons schools will grant a two year deferral. Good lick getting in!lokist86 wrote:I'm on the same boat as you guys. I feel like I'm right on the cusp of getting in or being denied.
