I hadn't received a scholarship at all from them and saw in these forums that people with similar numbers had gotten one. I wrote a short e-mail asking how I could go about making an appeal and they replied with something similar to what ballboy889 said. However, a week and a half-two weeks later, I got a scholarship letter in the mail. I don't know if I was already being considered for one (I think it's unlikely because I was accepted back on December 15th) or if it had anything to do with writing to them, but it's worth a shot.MirandaHobbs wrote:I went as well; I also was impressed by the school. I just wanted to see someone elses perspective on the day. I got a scholorship for Hofstra but not much and I want to try and get more... Has anyone negotiated a better scholorship with them yet?

I know this may be a silly question. but what happens if I havent recieved any decisions from my other NY schools, and i cannot make the first deposit for hofstra just bc i want to wait it out and see if i get into a better school?
can they "un-accept" me? whats the consequence?

You have to put your deposit down at Hofstra while you wait out other schools, if you don't put down your deposit, you lose your spot.Dripworx wrote:I know this may be a silly question. but what happens if I havent recieved any decisions from my other NY schools, and i cannot make the first deposit for hofstra just bc i want to wait it out and see if i get into a better school?

can someone shed some light on their part time program? i just noticed that they admitted 317 students back in 2009, but only 38 in 2010. what is up with this? are they closing down the PT program?

I don't know if they plan on phasing out their PT program, but I know right now it's been rehauled. There used to be an evening PT program, but now they've changed it to only daytime. The only difference is one class less than the full time program each semester. Maybe there's been less interest, or maybe they were experimenting with a small class size? I'm not certain.w.ftw wrote:can someone shed some light on their part time program? i just noticed that they admitted 317 students back in 2009, but only 38 in 2010. what is up with this? are they closing down the PT program?

Re: Hofstra 2011
I emailed the dean and asked him for an extension for the first deposit and he gave me until the 21st now. It's worth a shot, he also said if I need another to ask for it on the 19th. I'm still waiting on other schools as well and don't want to waste that $400, so I''m holding out as long as they let me.singingkris wrote:Dripworx wrote:I know this may be a silly question. but what happens if I havent recieved any decisions from my other NY schools, and i cannot make the first deposit for hofstra just bc i want to wait it out and see if i get into a better school?

Yes. This school sucks!!!ChrisP wrote:Any updates?
I say that mainly because of their ridiculous stipulation to hold a damn scholarship. You have to be top 40% of the class amongst the other scholarship students mind you, and if you drop below that (which is very possible since your graded with the smart people there, not the dumbasses) then you lose your entire scholarship! Not like you lose 20%, then 40% e.t.c. like any other normal school, but you lose the entire damn scholarship! That is precisely why this maggot heap of a law school sucks balls.

Yes, that is precisely what I am saying. Proof? I don't need proof, a friend who is there emailed me that bit of helpful information.ballboy899 wrote:are you saying they stack their sections with all of the scholarship students in one section? if so, do you have any proof of this? im just really curious of this

Re: Hofstra 2011
okay. i didnt mean physical proof. I just meant if you knew someone who goes there that knew something (which you obviously do)
Do you mind sharing what they told you? or if not, just give a little hint from what they said on how you definitely know that? lol. i'm just really curious, as this can definitely play a part in what my final decision will be by the end of the week

If you could copy/paste the same to me, that would be appreciated. I am also considering and any additional info would help.lawfreak wrote:Sure no problem.
