Re: University of San Diego 2011
USD is starting to piss me off. Been complete since 10/19. Luckily this application won't make or break my cycle, but I thought I was likely an auto-admit and was very interested in San Diego...

Thought my cycle was over, but applied today on a whim. Probably the ADD kicking in at work.

Re: University of San Diego 2011
I'm sorry if this has been answered elsewhere (I looked but couldn't find it) but could someone tell me when the first and second seat deposits are due for San diego? Anyone care to say if they've already laid down theirs? USD is my first choice and i'm still sitting at complete. I'm assuming they will possibly keep me there till at least after the initial deposit - does this seem like a fair assumption? Thanks!

This is not a fair assumption. They will send you an acceptance or denial before the date of the first seat deposit, which is April 30th. They don't have a status between "Complete" and "Decision Finalized" to my knowledge, but just hang in there.

Re: University of San Diego 2011
i'd tend to disagree... i think there is a possibility that you could be waiting until after first seat deposit (April 30 i believe). IMO it would be worth the wait, even in that case (also worth wasting the money on a separate seat deposit somewhere else just in case).helloperson wrote:LockBox wrote:I'm sorry if this has been answered elsewhere (I looked but couldn't find it) but could someone tell me when the first and second seat deposits are due for San diego? Re: University of San Diego 2011
I got accepted 12/11 and never heard about a scholarship...until yesterday!! $21k per year, with a top 50% stipulation.
This pretty much solidified that I will be attending USD next year!

The priority Fafsa deadline was four days ago and it often takes a couple weeks to get to schools so I wouldn't expect to hear anything before late March.

Got a small envelope from USD, thought "Hey scholly time", it was some stupid letter. Will be withdrawing as soon as possible.

Re: University of San Diego 2011
looking at lsn stats from last year, usd gave out a lot of $45,000 schollys. so far this year, there appears to be relatively few in that range (i'm guessing it's been bumped up to $48,000) for this cycle. do you think they are just trying to give out a larger base amount to attract people with higher numbers? i received $52,000 from loyola and would think that usd would be somewhat on par with their amounts but i'm beginning to think i won't receive any money from usd. i was accepted in late Jan and haven't heard anything yet.

I was also accepted to Loyola with $$$ (87k) and have heard zero from USD about scholarship money, though to be fair I only received my USD acceptance packet last week. At this point, I'm just chasing money, but I am curious to see how this all plays out.jesss wrote:looking at lsn stats from last year, usd gave out a lot of $45,000 schollys. so far this year, there appears to be relatively few in that range (i'm guessing it's been bumped up to $48,000) for this cycle. do you think they are just trying to give out a larger base amount to attract people with higher numbers? i received $52,000 from loyola and would think that usd would be somewhat on par with their amounts but i'm beginning to think i won't receive any money from usd. i was accepted in late Jan and haven't heard anything yet.

On scholarships: 52k from loyola 90k from usd here. Loyola lowballed me though; people with similar/worse stats got the 87k.

Just got an email saying I entered the wrong FAFSA code. All the other schools I applied to had a single code for both their undergraduate and professional schools. Apparently USD doesn't. Life sucks.

I'd say so. I got my results two weeks after submitting. Granted, they screwed them up and put me in the wrong applicant pool, but they fixed it and admitted me two days later.berkeleyman wrote:So I'm still sitting at complete 12/7.....Is it time to give them a call or what?

Called today and was told most decisions would be made in April, and not to expect to hear till then. Apparently their deposit date is April 30th. Was encouraged to deposit elsewhere, and lose the money if necessary.

USD scholarship letter came in the mail yesterday. $63k if I remember correctly. Fairly comparable with COL included?Flett wrote:I was also accepted to Loyola with $$$ (87k) and have heard zero from USD about scholarship money, though to be fair I only received my USD acceptance packet last week. i'd have to agree... COL is a huge difference between LA and SD and, i think, has to play a part when you're considering the schollys. in SD (not the city obv but PB, MB, etc from what i've seen) you can pay 650-750/mo for a bedroom in a 2 or three bedroom apartment, whereas in LA you're gonna be paying 950-1050 if you don't want to live in the ghetto. then factor in food, staples, etc, which are all more expensive in a huge city like LA, and i think they mostly even out...Flett wrote:USD scholarship letter came in the mail yesterday. $63k if I remember correctly. Re: University of San Diego 2011
I was sort of comparing the $63k schollys at USD with Loyola's $87k scholly. My question is more of does USD have a lower scholly that compares with Loyola's $52,500k one? i'm thinking something in the neighborhood of $48k from USD but I don't see many of those.smittelman6 wrote:

as an LA native and current SD resident, I would def agree that the COL in LA is greater.

Come on USD! I need an answer!
I've heard of people not getting an acceptance until May.
This is baloney!
