Sorry to hear that! Baylor is my #1 choice. If I don't get in, I'll just transfer in next year.anni wrote:Dinged today.

baylor has been dinging people with numbers way above their league. Kind of strange.

I'm real confused with Baylor as well, my app went complete mid November and I haven't heard anything since. A friend of mine who applied in February just got dinged this week. I'm wondering if those like me who have been complete for over 4 months are going to get offered a spot in the spring class or get flat out dinged? I couldn't imagine there are many fall spots left. Regardless, I'm quite confused.

Wilson, did you try negotiating with them? Scan your scholarship offers from other school and email them to Dean Beck-Chollet. My roommate did that with a 24k/year schollie from a non- Texas private school and Baylor gave her 15k/year as opposed to 0/year.

Ken Starr is trying to push Baylor Law up in the rankings, kind of like what he did with Pepperdine. I'm guessing that's why they're being more selective this year than in years past.

By that logic, shouldn't they be accepting more students with 160+

I was waiting for 5 months before I got dinged, and I didn't get offered a spot in the Spring. They just told me I could reapply.irenic wrote:Yield Protection?gothamm wrote:baylor has been dinging people with numbers way above their league. Kind of strange.

Thanks for the idea about scholarship negotiation. I just called & emailed--will update if anything happens. Was offered $ at plenty of other places; none from Baylor.
Seeing as how the summer deposit deadline is coming up, it may be too late, but who knows.

Dinged from the summer program. In at SMU so this doesn't hurt too much. In fact, I find the way they go about admissions to be rather hilarious.
Me - *Applies to the Fall program*
Baylor - Hey, why don't you apply to the Summer program instead, Justathought?!
Me - Okay, count me in!
Baylor - Sorry, we couldn't take you for summer.
Me - That's too bad. Oh well.
Baylor - Have you considered the Fall program?

Dinged today via snail mail too. Super lame since they talked me into the summer program application. At least I know I will have a chance to find a job during my 3L year instead of working my ass off... Bonus!

For those of y'all who were considering summer, are y'all still in undergrad? I am graduating this may. I looked at the summer schedule, and there is just no way that would've worked out so I would only take fall or spring.

For those of you who have been dinged, did it tell you on your status checker that a decision has been mailed? I never even went in review lol.

True...I'm kind of just talking out of my ass to try and make sense of all the weirdness that's going on with Baylor's acceptances/dings.

Edit: I'll offer a less opaque answer. My GPA is 2.4; some schools just don't like a GPA that low. Perhaps Baylor is one of those schools. Certainly couldn't have been my LSAT. Also, they may have sensed that a guy from New York likely wasn't heading to Waco. I applied because of the fee waiver, from day one I struggled with the thought of attending.

Baylor seems to be reviewing my application now - I've been communicating with the admissions office via email about some questions they had regarding my application. I'd really love to go there but it's so dang expensive. Crossing my fingers for a scholarship!

Yeah, I think that's how Baylor does all of their awards. However, when I was there, they mentioned that a good number of students get money their second year if they did decently during their first year. Not sure on any statistics for that, though.gothamm wrote:so i guess any scholarship info would have been in the acceptance letter?
