I went from WL to accept after a LOCI within a week or so this cycle.
Congrats! Are you in state?
Also, has anyone else come off of the waiting list?

You= My Hero. If you dont mind saying, did you focus more on why you were a great candidate or why you wanted to attend Madison in particular like the WL email said?dreakol wrote:BarnabeSpooge wrote:I think I remember someone from last year's thread, who went from WL to Accept in like a week or so, with an LOCI.Mr_Brightside wrote:What is the fastest anybody has been moved from the WL to Accepted? Re: UW-Madison 2011
Sorry for the late responses
they called me to notify me of my acceptance after they emailed me the WL decision and the they specifically mentioned the LOCI changing their opinion.
I am OOS
In my LOCI i mentioned a clinic that Wisconsin offered that I wanted to be a part of and how the school placed well into the region I wanted to work.
fwiw 3.67 169 might have had something to do with it too

Anyone in Madison currently want to comment on the situation up there? I don't want to turn this thread political, but I am curious to hear from anyone who is there in the center of it all right now.
Really makes me wish I was in Wisconsin.

Pretty big deal - a lot of our classes are getting canceled (anecdotally, most of those canceled seem to be humanities classes - I'm in the business school and haven't had a class canceled yet. Some of my friends outside the B school haven't had class since Tuesday) due to teachers being at the capitol protesting. I actually work (for the State, funny enough) right across from the Capitol where all the protests are being held. Getting a parking spot was a bitch because all the ramps are packed. A lot of my friends that attend other UW campuses have been down here to protest. Energy level is pretty high...it's pretty much the topic of conversation these days. It's obviously a pretty liberal campus, so it can get ugly on things like Facebook when right-wing ideals or Scott Walker supporters are brought up.
However, I would say a good percentage of people have no idea why they're there and are just protesting because it's cool. If you have any specific q's shoot away

I'm a 1L at UW-Law and I can safely say apart from people talking about it, and a select few students making time (half hour here, an hour there) to protest, our classes are not being affected at all.yoitsmebenny wrote:I currently go to UW.theavrock wrote:Anyone in Madison currently want to comment on the situation up there? The Admissions Committee plans to begin making scholarship and financial aid offers at the end of February and will continue to do so through the end of March.

Re: UW-Madison 2011
So true. Although on an interesting note, some of the law students have been helping organize people, and it was some law students that sent out the call to do the citizen filibuster during the public hearing that delayed this whole thing on Tuesday which got most of this started. I've seen plenty of facebook stuff about people spending the night in the capitol and protesting all weekend. It's not just a few hours as regionality said, there is definitely a group that have been down there all they can.Regionality wrote:I'm a 1L at UW-Law and I can safely say apart from people talking about it, and a select few students making time (half hour here, an hour there) to protest, our classes are not being affected at all.yoitsmebenny wrote:I currently go to UW.theavrock wrote:Anyone in Madison currently want to comment on the situation up there? But no, the law school classes have not been affected at all. We're still slaves, and still need to put in our work. I've been downtown several times to check things out, it's pretty crazy. The capitol can be deafening at times with the drums and all the chanting (building is marble with a huge dome, everything echoes). Alas, us poor 1L's had a memo due this week, so I don't think people have been down there as much as some of them wish they could.
