Just posted this in the Harvard 2010 thread, but it clearly belongs here too:

Hi guys, posting for the first time to let everyone know I was held a few hours ago. Submitted around Thanksgiving, got the complete e-mail just before Christmas, no JR1 e-mail.

My GPA is a little unclear because I ended up graduating from a foreign university, but based on the rest of my cycle, my stats are something like 3.84/178. Happy to explain further via PM if anyone's curious. Softs are average, I guess.

Columbia offered me a Hamilton a few weeks ago, so I am still in a very fortunate position, I know. But based on LSN, I seem to be the only Hamilton out there who hasn't gotten into Harvard as well, and I guess I was at least hoping for a JR1. Bummer.

Good luck to everyone else still waiting!

damn they held you with those stats, i don't understand what harvard is looking for in applicants this cycle. they have been holding some autoadmits by and autorejects by TS standards, but if they are holding 178/3.8s then i am fighting a losing battle

It's holds like these (and that 180/3.7 a month ago) that makes me thinks the whole "hold" process is very different from in years past. This should be expected, since JR is new and all and probably switching things up, but I just thought I'd throw it out there.

Good luck as well!

I don't know if numbers like these make me feel better about being held or worse about my chances post-hold.

Same feeling too. But I guess if he can't get through with those numbers (post-JR1), maybe he's one of those brilliant but truly bizarre applicants?

I am also on hold, been lurking for a while....

But in my opinion his numbers are absolutely unequivocally fudged. Unless he told Harvard thathe wanted his own office next to JR in his personal statemnt, and closed his statement with Peace lol

wait, no, he's legit! didn't he post in this thread earlier? clearly you're a bad lurker. he mentioned something like maybe his major in music held him back. he's a jr1-hold. stop being mean.

edit: it was in the jr1-no-jr2 thread. i take back the comment on your being a bad lurker. you are still mean.

Yeah, he and I have the same major. Sigh. Maybe my econ double major will make up the difference?

I'm in the same boat as you guys (parked squarely in the doldrums)...writing my LOCI now.

I can confidently say I have the worst GPA of all holds out there, but it's from a good UG/program and I have a strong LSAT, and am URM. I'm gonna go ahead and say that it was my writing which is keeping me in play at this point...luckily I get to do more of it! =)

So, LSAC hasn't received my transcript or my new LOR yet. I wonder if it's because they are buried in snow...

It takes weeks, sometimes. They probably have a crazy high volume of materials being sent in.

Question for those who send LOR through LSAC, how long does it take from "Letter received" shown on LSAC website to the letter showing up on the harvard profile?
Thanks!

You know I don't think I am even going to submit a LOCI. I mean its Harvard where else would any of us go besides there, unless we got into Stanford or have a Hamilton (neither apply to me...). I really am taking this whole hold thing pretty nonchalantly, if they want me in I will be. I should probably update my transcripts though....

there was a TS blog post a couple of years back where he said LOCI's don't carry much weight. ok i didn't personally see the post, but i saw someone quote it to that effect in a TLS harvard thread from a couple of years ago.

transcripts and legitimate updates i think are still good, though!
