At this point, I'd probably send in my deposit the same day if I was accepted. I'm starting to not even care whether or not another school offers me a scholarship. I just want to go to UNC. Granted, I'm in-state which has a built-in scholly. I'm getting really nervous though. Seems like almost anyone who gets into UNC ends up matriculating there and, since LSN is only a fraction of applicants, those 250 spots are filling up fast.

I'm hoping for one more big batch of acceptances before february ends for those of us who are hovering around their 50% and in state...

Hello! First time poster.....but been keeping up with this discussion for a looong time it seems like. Guess I have the same question as everyone else...anyone have any idea when the next batch of acceptance emails will go out? I was waitlisted at Chapel Hill last year so it seems like I have been waiting for an eternity. I need some peace of mind!

Nope, all we can do is hope that it's sooner rather than later. If LSN is any indication, we won't hear again until mid-March. Really hoping that's not the case though.NCclarice wrote:Hello! Re: University of North Carolina 2013
The way UNC does it actually isn't all bad. It just takes a different approach. I applied to UGA and they are supposedly really fast. well I obsessed over thstatus checker and haven't heard anything. I hate that. Same with IU-B. I applied there in October. Well "6-8 weeks" was about 6-8 weeks ago. That sucks.
On the other hand with UNC you know they are slow. Just forget about it. There's no status checker so there's nothing for you to even worry about. Don't even anticipate a response until April. When I got my email last week I was completely shocked to hear from them even though it took them 4 months.
By the way 5 days later and I still can't believe Im IN! Good luck to all. And don't stress about it. It's out of your hands.

This kind of sucks though because a lot of deposit deadlines are April 1st or sooner.lawhawk wrote:Don't even anticipate a response until April.

Earlier in the cycle UNC commented that their goal was to get the majority of acceptances out by March 1st....I'm holding out hope that this is still their goal and that this coming week will bring good news to most of us!.....here's to hoping.
Out of curiosity what do you all think the numbers needed for an in-state acceptance will be this year?

Does UNC have special considerations for in-state?

Re: University of North Carolina 2013
~3/4 of the class is in-state, and only ~1/4 of the applicants are NC residents. It is definitely easier for in-staters.Lonestar87 wrote:Does UNC have special considerations for in-state?

Also, 75% of apps are from out-of-staters making the advantage 2-fold for in-staters

i don't know about deposits but certain schools like Indiana and UGA require you to notify them if you are accepting your scholarship offer by April 1

Re: University of North Carolina 2013
accepting a scholarship doesn't always (or even usually) lock you into the program. You can double check the agreement and call the admissions office if there is any ambiguity. I am still hoping to hear back before the other deposits are due though!NatSec wrote:i don't know about deposits but certain schools like Indiana and UGA require you to notify them if you are accepting your scholarship offer by April 1

Re: University of North Carolina 2013
What do you guys think about the relatively low 9 month employment statistics from UNC, compared to other similar ranked schools. The more I think about it, my draw to UNC over Wake is more based on what some magazine says, but it is deeply engrained
Edit: Looks like I was looking at the year prior to this one, the new data is much higher so forgive me
Granted it's probably much lower for this years class but we won't know that for a couple years.
