last year the first post-new years JS2s came out on January 14th. But it seems that there are more people who haven't heard back with December JS1's than last year so maybe it'll be earlier.edwardt1988 wrote:So when's the next wave? 2 weeks from now?

Re: Harvard, C/O 2017, Applicants Thread (2013-2014)
thank you to whomever re-organized the spreadsheet.
it is now pretty clear the strongest determinant for JS2's is not JS1 date but rather JS1 invitation date.
all the November JS2's had, for the most part, October JS1 invites, while all the December JS2's had, for the most part, November JS1 invites. If that's the sequence, then it explains in part why so many folks with December JS1 invites have not heard back yet.
If that pattern plays out, it means that the folks with December JS1 invites, assuming they didn't schedule their interviews too late, will hear back at the end of January, given that JS2's came out at the end of Nov/Dec right before the school holidays.
If you want to get even more exact, you could speculate that, given that Jan 20 is MLK day and the school is off, JS2's might come about right around then, maybe the Thursday or Friday before that. Or they might just come at the very end of January. I don't know.

I think mid-january is more accurate, based on the average waits so far, last year's cycle and wishful thinkingMort_the_Tort wrote:thank you to whomever re-organized the spreadsheet.

From the LSN spreadsheet it appears that the application date/application complete date is a stronger indicator than the JS1 invite or JS1 date.Mort_the_Tort wrote:it is now pretty clear the strongest determinant for JS2's is not JS1 date but rather JS1 invitation date.

JS1 invite date would be tied to the complete date, which would be tied to submit date, so there's auto-correlation there right? I think because a range of submit dates and complete dates get lumped into discrete invite dates, and JS2s themselves come out on discrete dates, you'd find the strongest correlation with the JS1 invite datega208 wrote:From the LSN spreadsheet it appears that the application date/application complete date is a stronger indicator than the JS1 invite or JS1 date.Mort_the_Tort wrote:it is now pretty clear the strongest determinant for JS2's is not JS1 date but rather JS1 invitation date.

tangent...

folks have probably seen this already but its a great story about a bank robber who had his cert petition for a fellow inmate taken up by SCOTUS, won a full scholarship to U of Washington, and is now clerking for a federal judge

We've seen a lot of discussion on when the next wave of JS2's are coming...when can we expect to see the first round of denials?

I look forward to being put out of my misery on this date (or thereabout), assuming that is the (unfortunate but likely) outcome.lastsamurai wrote:^^I believe Friday the 11th was the first rejection on TLS last year

I just want to take the time to say that drawstring's new avatar is da bomb. He should keep updating it with new cat gifs but the same phrase. That is all.

I haven't been paying attention but is there any reason/precedent for why people are saying tomorrow is the day?

I don't recall JS2s this early in January. According to an automated email I got when I tried to contact admissions it's also a half-day tomorrow (afternoon only) for whatever that's worth.I haven't been paying attention but is there any reason/precedent for why people are saying tomorrow is the day?

I don't expect anything until at least next week.lawschool22 wrote:I haven't been paying attention but is there any reason/precedent for why people are saying tomorrow is the day?

Also, and on a gloomier note, based on past cycles next week would be the probable time when rejections and holds (if they were still used) start. I think February and May is when held applicants have previously started getting accepted, though I'm not sure how it will work now with Feb scores being accepted and no holds.

Also to keep in mind, there is a massive snow storm heading Harvard's way and I heard it's expected to dump a foot of snow on the Boston area. Even if JS planned on doing something tomorrow, Mother Nature might have some other ideas.lawschool22 wrote:This is sort of what I was thinking...barrelofmonkeys wrote:I don't expect anything until at least next week.lawschool22 wrote:I haven't been paying attention but is there any reason/precedent for why people are saying tomorrow is the day?

Bit of a lurker, but hoping for some piece of mind:
From looking around this page it feels like I should have at least had my JS1 invite by now. I know my numbers are borderline at best, so it could just be a ding, but I thought my PS was good enough to at least warrant a JS1. Should I be worried?
Complete 11/4/2013.
LSDAS GPA: 3.68
UGPA: 3.80
LSAT: 171
Thanks
