Re: Columbia c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
I got my acceptance email yesterday (dated March 21 early afternoon).
Started law school application very late, submitted all my applications just one day before their respective deadlines, and virtually ignorant of this forum, so kind of a pointless mission... LSAC report ready by Feb 16th I think. I requested transcript in early Feb (forgot to enclose the request form with my first request sent to my UG institution in late Jan) so I was surprised at the efficiency of LSAC.
Already heard (in order) from GULC (preferred watilist), UChicago (waitlist) and UVa (waitlist, 2 hours before Columbia's decision came out). Haven't heard from the other 8 schools.
173/3.84 Asian, 29yrs old, no work experience.

Judging from last year’s data on LSN, next week will be the decisive one for us. After 3/22/2011, there were some acceptances on 3/28, but aside from that, it was all rejections and waitlists for the rest of the cycle.

I spent many years in college and then went into a PhD program but dropped out in the middle thinking it's not for me.Geneva wrote:congrats on columbia! hope more acceptances come ur way. no work experience, hm. do u have other degrees?deluxe wrote:I got my acceptance email yesterday (dated March 21 early afternoon).

in the event that we do get accepted around 3/28, i guess it will be too late for admitted students days?knickerbocker wrote:Judging from last year’s data on LSN, next week will be the decisive one for us. There is a "Mondays at Columbia" on 4/23. I can't make it to ASD next week so I'll be going to that. Based on the schedules posted online, it seems like you aren't missing much doing the one-day Monday program instead of the full two-day ASD, and a poster in the current students taking questions thread confirmed this.Geneva wrote:in the event that we do get accepted around 3/28, i guess it will be too late for admitted students days?knickerbocker wrote:Judging from last year’s data on LSN, next week will be the decisive one for us. Unfortunately, for those of us living across the country, that's probably not a realistic optionringo wrote:There is a "Mondays at Columbia" on 4/23. Why don't they just give out these decisions earlier? If it's a waitlist/ rejection, why wait until mid April???knickerbocker wrote:Judging from last year’s data on LSN, next week will be the decisive one for us. At least it isn't a waitlist, right? A lot of people with great numbers have been held, I really don't think it is a bad place to be.
I, however, still have nothing. Convinced that I just misplaced my rejection letter or something.

Re: Columbia c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
I mean, I think hold at this point is pretty good. It's obviously not ideal, but I think that the odds of getting in off hold at CLS are better than at other places, and definitely better than most waitlists. It doesn't look like we're supposed to notify that we wish to remain in consideration. Is that correct, or should I send them an email? The only thing the attachment mentioned was to let them know if you didn't want to remain on the listBlumpbeef wrote:JamMasterJ wrote:Just held![]()

Re: Columbia c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
How does being held at CLS compare to being held at HLS? I was held at Columbia shortly after submitting my application and just received a hold email from Harvard today.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
