Just is odd because of the number of decisions that have gone out. I feel like if they were going to accept me, they would have done so already.

If they were certain they were going to reject you, they would have already as well. Stay positive.

Easier said than done! I assume I'm heading to the WL pile, which they have yet to release.

Aside from the 1-year-deferral and ED packages, most of the money comes out in a big rush over a couple of days. Last year it was around April 1. (Mar 30-Apr 2, if memory serves)

I'm started to become a little skeptical that 'held' isn't the same as 'waitlisted.'

I guess I am probably sounding entitled here (sorry) but I am really confused by my lack of word from NU. Given my work experience (8+ yrs) I'd have honestly thought at the beginning of this cycle that I had a better shot at NU than any other T14 schools. I have heard back now from every school but NU, Harvard & Stanford. Even H had the decency to hold me. @johann why u no love me? I really, really like NU but I feel like the chances of me being able to go there are becoming less and less as time goes on.

(submitted early november, complete since mid-jan thanks to lengthy alumni-interview scheduling process. Le sigh.)

Just sent a Why NU and my Hold essays. The 'famous' essay wasn't so bad once I got going but I still feel incredibly full of myself in it.

your lsn looks like you have a strong PI focus. was your PS focused on PI? if so they may be YPing you since NU tends to matriculate more biglaw focused people.

Yes, it was very PI-focused. I guess that could be it, though I never thought my numbers were strong enough to be YP'ed anywhere! I thought my alumni interview went very well and we talked a lot about specific clinics and programs at NU that interested me (some of which my interviewer had participated in), but that said, my application itself was not at all tailored to "Why NU." I guess you could be right, though even a hold or WL might feel better at this point than feeling like my app has been lost :|

ETA: All that said, I feel very lucky with the options I have. I hope I don't sound ungrateful or too entitled with my venting.

I really doubt PI would have hurt you.

You're a reverse splitter. Those are more common than splitters. They probably keep some of both in reserve until they see how many of each kind they need to admit to maintain both medians.

Am I? I have never been quite sure what the term means but never though of myself as one! Reverse splitter is high GPA lower LSAT?

Splitters have LSAT over the median/GPA under the median. Reverse splitters have GPA over the median/LSAT under the median.

There are more high GPAs than high LSATs, so splitters are more rare than reverse splitters.

Gotcha. Thanks for clarifying :) I don't think I actually realized that whether or not you're a splitter may differ from school to school.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
