Not as a direct answer to Knickerbocker, but I got mine last week at 2:30 EST. All the emails seem to come out around the early-mid afternoon. I also talked to financial aid today, and they seemed really understanding about the rolling acceptances. I hope that means we're all still able to get money.

Got mine at 3:10 EDT. It must get dark early where you are, ssteiner.ssteiner wrote:Got mine at 3:36 ESTknickerbocker wrote:Congratulations to those who got in!
Would people who got their acceptance emails today mind sharing the timestamp on the email? Your time zone would also help.

In all honesty though, I always forget to differentiate. My mistake!

will columbia be emailing people notice of acceptances from here on out since it is so late in the game? if so, does this mean we'll have to open a scary attachment as was the case w/ the hold emails? oh, first world problems

I don't want to come off as mean (which means that this will probably come off as mean), but sometimes partaking in these threads reminds me of watching tv with my roommate. We'll turn on the tv in the middle of some show and she'll ask me "wait, so what's going on?!" Dude... I started watching the same time you did. Why do you think I have any better idea of what's going on than you do?Geneva wrote:will columbia be emailing people notice of acceptances from here on out since it is so late in the game? if so, does this mean we'll have to open a scary attachment as was the case w/ the hold emails? oh, first world problems
So yeah, my speculation (which is only as good as yours) is that admitted students from now on will get emails (yes, they're attachments - legit question). My further speculation is that they're doing it so that it gives people enough time to book a trip to ASW ASAP. But who knows?

submitted jan-march 15, complete jan-march 16
not suprised that i haven't gotten an answer from these schools: hys columbia penn
do not understand why i haven't gotten an answer from boston college (one of my first submissions) when i applied LATER to bu and got tons of scholarship money almost a month ago. similarly, don't understand why i haven't gotten an answer from uc davis but am in at berkeley and ucla (applied to all cali schools at the end of jan/first day of feb)

VCE today. Was vaguely hoping for a half ride even though I knew it was a long shot, but as of now can't afford to take Columbia at sticker with NYU offering me 30k/year. I know that there are some non-named scholarships, but as far as I understand they don't amount to much, correct?

Got an email yesterday about being admitted, but nothing other than that. The named scholarship offers come along with the VCEs, right?

I believe so. That's how it worked with mine. I suppose they could change it up later in the cycle, but I don't see why they would.ssteiner wrote:Got an email yesterday about being admitted, but nothing other than that. The named scholarship offers come along with the VCEs, right?

And other than the named scholarships, the rest is need-based, correct? Not that I'm expecting anything anyway, just want to make sure I'm understanding the process. This acceptance was a surprise so I have not done much research yet.Ti Malice wrote:I believe so. That's how it worked with mine. Need-based as in "need-based," as in actually merit-based. The fin aid office might pretend it's need-based or "a combination of need- and merit-based," but it's really just merit-based.ringo wrote:And other than the named scholarships, the rest is need-based, correct? Sorry, I don't know either. I withdrew a few weeks ago and hadn't done any further research on their grant practices.ringo wrote:And other than the named scholarships, the rest is need-based, correct? To those who received what the financial aid office refers to as "need-based" aid rather than a named scholarship, do you mind sharing how much they gave you? Just trying to get an idea of what kind of offer (if any) I might get.

Look through past cycles on LSN for an idea. No one has received anything yet this cycle.ssteiner wrote:To those who received what the financial aid office refers to as "need-based" aid rather than a named scholarship, do you mind sharing how much they gave you?
