What kind of questions can one expect with the Alum interview?

Mine was mainly "what do you want to do with a JD" and "why Georgetown" for an hour or so.

For most people it is fairly laid back and you can often get the alum to talk as much as you do.

It was:
Why Law?
Why Georgetown?
Then he asked if I had any questions for him.

Seems pretty reasonable and nothing to get too stressed over. Might as well give it a shot then.

Yeah mine was about the same. Why law, why gulc, standard interview questions... what are my strengths, weaknesses, favorite books, etc.

My interview was about one and a half hours. Talked a lot about current events and D.C. and why Georgetown is the best!

What kind of questions can one expect with the Alum interview?

My interview was pretty open ended at first: "tell me something interesting about you," and progressed naturally from there. She spent most of her time telling me about her Georgetown experience, and the advantages of going there. I think the feedback from just about everyone was that it was a rather relaxed affair. I would suggest making sure you follow up with a thank you email after - both for professionalism and to nudge them to submit their review back to Georgetown. When I did that, my interviewer emailed me back to thank me for thanking her, and to say that she was "highly recommending" me to GULC. Can't hurt...

PS - Now that I think about it, she did have a couple of very specific questions about my resume, and the way she phrased the questions made me think that the admissions committee wanted her to get answers for these specific items.

I was hoping that the person who would read my file would mistake my 157 for a 175. FWIW, I only applied because they gave me a fee waiver, I knew I didn't have a shot. Unfortunately, they read my LSAT correctly and I was dinged.

I mean...what does that even mean though? Of course Gtown's adcom wants to see a high GPA...they all do. And a 2 second look at LSN shows that a quarter of their class has below a 3.45.

I interviewed with Dean Cornblatt and he made a big show of emphasizing how much they DO care about your story. He brought up the issue of GPA/LSAT cutoffs and basically dismissed the idea, saying that cutoffs would unfairly (and undesirably) rule out some applicants who would be really great students.

I'm sorry . I hope you get into BU though. That's a great place and I think we're in somewhat similar boats application-wise so if you get in that bodes well for me! I'm a little worried BU has a hard 3.0 GPA floor though.
