I have been at complete since late January. Does the status checker go to under review next, or straight to a decision?

just put on "hold," went complete 12/18. 171, 3.9, top ten undergrad... so bummed, two of my friends from my school just got in with worse stats. the letter says to feel free to send in additional information.... anyone have any ideas as to what might help?
someone earlier mentioned strong interest in PI might potentially hurt one's application at columbia, is there any truth to this?

Why do you think this is? I have identical numbers and was slightly thrilled with a WL.virginiagirl55 wrote:just put on "hold," went complete 12/18. 171, 3.9, top ten undergrad... so bummed, two of my friends from my school just got in with worse stats.

Re: Columbia 2010
Has CLS started to weigh LSAT score even more heavily than in the past, or are they only initially accepting applicants with really outstanding stats this cycle? In the latter case, maybe some waitlisted people have a shot if the people initially accepted opt for HYS instead...

Why do you think you're friends got in with worse stats over you. Again, I'm only asking cause we have the same numbers.

Re: Columbia 2010
i don't think anyone answered this for you... they don't give hand-me-down hamiltons. the consensus was that declined hamiltons result in more pseudo-merit aid for the people who apply for fin aid. in the past few years, the latest they were given out was mid-feb or so, so i guess that would mean at this point it's too late to apply to get one.CordeliusX wrote:I've been asking around about the Hamiltons. If people turn them down, do they offer them to others? when is the latest you can apply to get one? I doubt I would receive one even as a "hand-me-down", but I know a few people who might conceivably stand a chance.

Re: Columbia 2010
ha, i have no idea. i was fairly certain i would be receiving an acceptance soon based off of theirs- we applied at the same time, received acceptances to other schools on the exact same days. one has a far more difficult major than me, but i thought no one really cared about that... why do you think you were waitlisted with those numbers so early on with those numbers? maybe i was being faaar too optimistic about my chances, i suppose i shouldn't have taken my pre-law advisor's optimism so seriously.

Am I the only one happy with a WL. I would of thought with our numbers and a shitty application, they would have rejected us. It at least proves our application didn't suck, right?

Re: Columbia 2010
haha i knew as much regarding that, i spent months put together a pretty legitimate application to make up for my 7 point pt average lsat drop. uggggh. but a waitlist and a hold with low lsats for columbia are victories of sorts, i suppose.A Swift wrote:lz06 wrote:

gpa is above 75th. yea they favor LSAT but that still gives us a chance, its not like our LSAT is bad... I'll be disappointed if I get waitlisted right off the bat without even being held first. Actually I'll be disappointed with a hold as wellA Swift wrote:lz06 wrote:

They have both hold and reserve. People started getting held yesterday.. it just means they're still reviewing your app. Reserve=waitlistA Swift wrote:I don't think they have both. no, they do. a hold is "further review" and reserve=waitlist. two different things.A Swift wrote:I don't think they have both. Complete since 9/16 here. No word. Though I am on the West Coast, so for all I know, there could be something in the mail.
