Hah. Cuse and I both definitely sent out cover letters to a shitton of firms that had typos. But it isn't likely than any would have hired us anyway. And it didn't appear that anyone actually read them. So fuck it, I guess.

That typo was literally in 9 out of 10 of my cover letters...epic fail.

Mine would have been worse though. I didn't realized I hadn't locked my phone, so it would have looked something like this:

"Thank you for aconfjgnifndjdandjbfiandfvjd f fsn asmnbafhdbhfdefbeaef feafjejd fakjedfda "

before it changed over to another language. Thankfully, it didn't actually send and they got a nice, articulate version.


& and someone who had hired people before...I never really looked at the cover letter. Resume first. Read cover letters for the maybe pile and then for those I decided to interview. So basically, just don't have any typos on your resume.

I have also heard of a few schools even dropping their tuition in light of the current state of the legal field/education.

Seems to be on the lower end I would think, compared with other schools.

From what I can tell, 3.5%ish seems to be close to standard making this very slightly low? (note: .5% low means $500 dollars + interest).

It's probably as low or lower than the other 19 schools in the T20. I highly doubt anyone is raising tuition by less than 3%. Once we're at these prices the difference of a few thousand doens't seem like much, but many of our peer schools have tuition rates above 54-55k, and that's before whatever annual increase they're announcing this year.

Also, one reason that all schools raise tuition regularly is because something in USNR rankings has to do with expenditure per student or something, which has to do with tuition prices. Essentially raising tuition every year is a part of gaming the ranking system. It sucks, but it is how schools have to play the rankings game.

Last year the old dean explained it to us all. Seems like the school raises it the absolute minimum amount it can to make it just not negatively effect our rankings. It would be nice if they raised our scholarships with tuition, but se la vie

It's been three weeks since my interview and four Fridays have passed. People who interviewed after me have already heard. Should I follow up?

I'd say email them on Monday if you don't hear tomorrow, since decisions have been coming out Wednesday/Friday and this would still be within "a few weeks."

I visited this week and some of the admissions staff commented on how crazy busy they are this time of year. If the interview went well, I'd say you're in there. Give it another day and if you don't hear anything back after tomorrow, maybe make a quick phone call to check your status....couldn't hurt.

Not to rub salt in the wound, but I interviewed via Skype Tuesday and was admitted Wednesday.

I know I'm like two conversations behind, but I sent my resume to law schools with the wrong phone number. I only noticed when a job I interviewed for emailed and told me my number was disconnected. The funny thing is, I haven't changed the header on my resume in 3-4 years. No one uses phones, apparently.

Last I heard, we are one of the few schools where apps are up quite a bit. Probably due to the rain-making last cycle. Still, they might be playing the rankings rejections matrix game. Are either of your numbers above last year's medians?
