I wouldn't give up hope yet!

Just about everyone who hasn't been accepted yet has been "passed over" in one way or another, but HLS has a large amount of admit offers left to give out and they're going to go to those who have been thus-far passed over! Don't worryOskosh wrote:Complete 1/12...why does it feel like I've been passed over?

I got my JS1 a day or so after everyone else in my wave got it, so not necessarily. Congrats new JS1s! And good luck to everyone else!w0w wrote:mimiquestionmark wrote:Do all the JS1s go out at the same time or do they trickle in? Is there a status checker update?
Typically all at once and it might show up under correspondence.
I actually did dream about getting a JS2 last night. [Sobs]thequeen wrote:Is it weird that I'm already dreaming about getting a JS2 and joining cool peeps like leslie knope, lawbron james, and xylocarp at HLS?
(best wishes to all of you TLSers)
EDIT: had to add Lawbron James
Haha I'm glad you thought of me, but I still haven't gotten that JS2 yet. Still waiting from my early Dec. interview.thequeen wrote:Is it weird that I'm already dreaming about getting a JS2 and joining cool peeps like leslie knope, lawbron james, and xylocarp at HLS?

I think earliest is about 2 weeks. I would expect under a month at this point in cycle for most people. Averages are really skewed by the large amount of people who had JS1's in the months before first JS2s.meyer5541 wrote:Just had my JS1 today...how long have people typically be waiting between this and a potential JS2 or ding?
Still waiting on that mid-Nov JS1. Pretty much thinking the JS2 isn't going to happen at this point.thequeen wrote:haha yes, I meant that we are all waiting for that JS1 to transform into a JS2.
Wow, early December is a long wait man. I feel for you. I got my JS1 in late January, so I'm hoping maybe I'll be in the next JS2 cycle!

the standard interview time seems to be about ~10 minutes so wouldn't be worried about the length! i think the interview is for them to check that you have some semblance of social skills. your interview probably doesn't have to be spectacular (though this could help make up for less competitive numbers), but a bad interview where you can't articulate a reason for wanting to go to HLS or where you can't elaborate on things you've described in your resume will probably raise some red flags during faculty review.jaywil08 wrote:How much of an impact do you guys think a JS1 can make? I had mine recently and it didn't go too much in depth, I was only asked questions for about 8-9 mins. Made me wonder how much they can really glean from such an interview, either good or bad. They wouldn't waste their times doing it if it didn't offer them value though. So how much of a difference can a good or bad interview make? Is your fate already mostly determined ahead of time?
Exactly right.DK21 wrote:I've been telling myself since my interview that there's nothing you can really do to help your chances in 15 minutes, you can just hurt them. So no big unforced errors and you're doing well.
Of course, I think I might be saying that just to get myself to not overthink it!

I'm in the same boat. Pretty much median. Some of us (me) may be headed for the waitlist, but I don't think that all of us are. If H is working through roughly numerically, rejecting ppl at the bottom of the pile first, and accepting people at the top, it would make sense that people at median would hear last. That said, I don't have any special insight into the admissions process so maybe I'm just being optimistic and we are all getting waitlisted.paragonloop wrote:+1Mack.Hambleton wrote:Any other early submitters around median without a JS1 still??

General consensus is that it's your call. KB said it's fine but no one has said it's required. If you do one, keep it brief.pacifico wrote:Just had my JS1 today. Wow that was nerve-wracking! Lasted a grand total of 15 minutes. Wish all the new JS1s the best of luck too!
Incidentally, what's the opinion on thank you emails after JS1s?
So who's hoping to catch this wave? I'm early Feb JS1, splitter. If admitted, I think Feb JS1s will probably come in the next wave, but keeping fingers crossed for this one.pylon wrote:It's Friday morning...
