I certainly hope that's the explanation! As Workingtitle points out, there are zillions of other possible explanations. I'd be curious to know especially about who interviewed the recent admits. Maybe JS can decide more quickly about the people she herself interviews, I don't know. One encouraging data set can be found on mylsn (http://mylsn.info/whenwilliknow.php), if you select Harvard and application sent in November, you'll see that about the same number of November people were admitted in Jan-Apr as in December itself, so there's plenty of time. (It's quick and dirty, I have no idea how many of these people got early JS1s and slow conversion or got late JS1s and quick turnaround, but it's at least a bit of optimistic perspective.)
