I'm going to see what happens this cycle and go from there.jy9626 wrote:I can't answer your question. But if you can, why don't you wait for the next cycle? You chances will be far better if you apply this fall.logicspeaks wrote:I know they say that you must submit a request to use the February LSAT score in your application, but are they really going to ignore my updated CAS report if I don't? Went from 160 to 171.

Does anyone think Columbia is being this way with admissions this year because they are tired of being tied with Chicago at 4 and want to do whatever they can to get ahead of them in the rankings?

They automatically consider your score if they have not made a decision on your application.

Waitlisting >75 people is not the way to do that. So I doubt it.moopness wrote:Does anyone think Columbia is being this way with admissions this year because they are tired of being tied with Chicago at 4 and want to do whatever they can to get ahead of them in the rankings?

Not really sure, but I do think they are running the risk of shooting themselves in the foot by being so weird and dragging this out. People with similar or better options are having lots of time to get comfy with other possibilities.moopness wrote:Does anyone think Columbia is being this way with admissions this year because they are tired of being tied with Chicago at 4 and want to do whatever they can to get ahead of them in the rankings?
(I could just be annoyed, though. Above both 75ths, solid softs, and radio silence since September.)

OK total neuroticism/ self-interest in asking this, but do we have any sort of consensus as to why early to mid-cycle applicants (November or early December) with high numbers (around or above the 75ths) have heard nothing at all yet?

I wish I could figure out what's going on...this is killing me with my early October submit. If they don't want me, I'd be pretty upset, but I'd rather know earlier rather than later.

Similar anxieties here about an early app without any word back so far. Went back and looked at my app and am concerned that my personal statement was basically a narrative on an experience whereas they seem to ask for something that addresses career interests. Is there anyone else who thinks this may have given the admissions committee pause? Or am I the only one who needs to learn to read instructions better?

This doesn't read as career goals only to me...Columbia Application wrote: Candidates to Columbia Law School are required to submit a personal essay or statement supplementing required application materials. This statement may provide the Admissions Committee with information regarding matters such as: personal, family, or educational background; experiences and talents of special interests; reasons for applying to Columbia Law School as they may relate to personal goals and professional expectations; or any other factors that you think should inform the Committee's evaluation of your candidacy for admission, employment, and community service.

Fair enough, I think at this point I'm reading into anything that would explain any problems they might have seen with my app.lastsamurai wrote:This doesn't read as career goals only to me...

They're just going to hold off on your apps for another month before deciding to send you an interview invite

FWIW, there was nothing about career goals in my PS and I ended up with a Hamilton.BanjoCalhoun wrote:Fair enough, I think at this point I'm reading into anything that would explain any problems they might have seen with my app.lastsamurai wrote:This doesn't read as career goals only to me...

Congrats, maybe I can forget that particular concern and just keep hoping.illyria wrote:FWIW, there was nothing about career goals in my PS and I ended up with a Hamilton.BanjoCalhoun wrote:Fair enough, I think at this point I'm reading into anything that would explain any problems they might have seen with my app.lastsamurai wrote:This doesn't read as career goals only to me...

All of us who are held are in contention for the secret Bamilton scholarship, which is a Full Ride + 75k stipend.btmoney84 wrote:Just got an email saying I was held. Any consensus on why people are being held?
