Call Virginia and tell them you made a mistake. You meant turn down NYU and accept Virginia's offer.

yeah i'm sorry to say but i think you've had a serious lapse in judgment even if your parents have money to throw around, this seems totally crazy.

Thank you guys so much for your replies. I'm an international student and interested in studying Asian law and international law. So loans don't really apply to me. While UVA is a great school, they don't have any program on Asian law. And I feel that NYC would give me a better global advantage. Still negotiating aid with NYU, though hope is slim.

if you're paying with loans (ie aren't a trust fund babby), yes.

you're paying six figures to go to a school with a 67% biglaw + fed clerk... instead of a school with 63% biglaw + fed clerk for free.

that's like turning down a full ride at USC to go to UCLA for near sticker. it just doesn't make sense.

I do believe NYU has a better a BigLaw placement, and Charlottesville vs. NYC isn't s exactly the same as USC and UCLA...

NYU and UVA are actually closer peers than UCLA and USC at this point. ~$40,000 for every 1% increase in combined biglaw/clerking percentage and the excitement of NYC? Oops.

I don't think there's much "choosing" going on these days. Seems like D'ag and singles in general have been swooped up. From everything I've seen, it's just Mercer assignments now.
