Re: Stanford c/o 2017 (2013-2014 applicants)
Ballpark numbers.
Assuming we count to 150... And assuming TLS skews towards the stronger applicants, someone earlier posted an estimate of 10-25% of the applicant pool being TLS/LSN, it seems reasonable to conclude that the 150 people we count are 25 of the remaining applicant pool that hasn't heard back.
So, let's say 600 people haven't heard back. Last year, SLS received 3,700+ applications, and they've been over 5,000 in years past, so let's say they received 4,000 applications this year.
That would mean that Faye has returned decisions to 3,400/4,000, or approximately 85% of the applicants.
That % could go as low as (3,700 - (150*10))/3,700 = 59.459% (realistic worst-case), or as high as (4,500 - (120*3))/4,500 = 92% (realistic best-case).

117. Lurker.
I was discussing this thread with my friend (also a lurker--118) and he called Stanford this afternoon. They told him that everyone will receive a decision by 4/30, but they are "handing out decisions daily."

"Decisions" includes acceptances? Or just WLs and Rs?

Since I'm the idiot who suggested the count idea a few days ago, let me take this moment to apologize to anyone who has suffered emotional distress as a result of it.

120. Went complete in early January, and my hope for a call from Faye have long since faded away.

Re: Stanford c/o 2017 (2013-2014 applicants)
yesterday I perused some of the threads about paying off 300k in debt at the 8th circle of hell that is big law, the emotional distress of being likely to get a polite letter saying I can't go to Stanford doesn't register anymore.vuthy wrote:Since I'm the idiot who suggested the count idea a few days ago, let me take this moment to apologize to anyone who has suffered emotional distress as a result of it.

I actually thank you for it. Seeing how many people are left, and the kind of qualifications they have, made me lose all remaining hope that someone with my ridiculous numbers had a chance at getting in. Since I finally accepted that (as a result of the count), my life has been much, much bettervuthy wrote:Since I'm the idiot who suggested the count idea a few days ago, let me take this moment to apologize to anyone who has suffered emotional distress as a result of it.

Exactly. At this point, my potential debt number is a much scarier number than the count on this thread. The count could be up to 1,000 and I still don't think I'd feel anything anymore.EquallyWrong wrote:yesterday I perused some of the threads about paying off 300k in debt at the 8th circle of hell that is big law, the emotional distress of being likely to get a polite letter saying I can't go to Stanford doesn't register anymore.vuthy wrote:Since I'm the idiot who suggested the count idea a few days ago, let me take this moment to apologize to anyone who has suffered emotional distress as a result of it.

I actually don't feel worse about things since seeing the count. There are so many strong applicants left that I'm inclined to believe there are still acceptances in store. I don't fancy my own chances in this pool but it's not like I was sure I'd get into Stanford when I applied, so...

Yeah I don't know if i feel any better or worse about my chances than i ever did. Apparently intel says acceptance are done. Common sense says that with so many people still waiting presumably they still have some serious decisions to make. Either way I'm preparing to get a ding and move on.teampeeta wrote:I actually don't feel worse about things since seeing the count. It looks like on last year's thread the last acceptances were on April 9th, and the waitlist started coming out April 11th.

When they told me Stanford was a "block box" I didn't realize they meant something as impossible to get info about as the one from that Malaysian Airlines flight.
