Complete 1/11 with absolutely no word. Is it smart to write a LOCI now, or should I just wait until I hear something? Thanks.

In via email. My options are WUSTL and Columbia. I think I'll be in NYC next year.

I got wait listed at every school that has replied to me between those two. WUSTL was the lowest I applied to and Columbia was the highest. Needless to say, I'm super stoked right now to finally get some splitter love.
Also, I applied on November 18th.

Sounds like they are sending emails to admits first now, even those in the US.Elliott_Smith wrote:Are they emailing now instead of/before VCEs? Or are you all international?

I am in the forgotten pile. Talking about sending in LOCIs, one of my well-crafted letter prompted an instant ding from a school I don't want to name here. I was in the forgotten pile of that school too. Honestly, I was pissed off. I showed genuine interest and my numbers are beyond their 75th....Now I am not sure if I should send anything to Columbia just to remind them they should speed up the ding...

In our collective wisdom, have we ever heard of someone on HOLD actually being admitted?

If I had applied to WUSTL and been accepted, I think this person would have exactly the same cycle as me

Not to be weird, but I've been watching your cycle for a while since we are pretty much equal in the numbers department. We both got owned by the waitlists for reasons I don't really understand. I'm pulling for you, hopefully you'll get good news this week.JamMasterJ wrote:Inorite? There are a bunch of other TLSers in the same position basically. I think people are looking to see what's going on with other people's comparably odd cycles since what's happening seems so at odds with how some of the top schools usually operate.

Same. I feel (hope) that if you're one of the forgotten with strong numbers it means your odds are good for getting a straight acceptance, rather than being held first.ViennaGraben wrote:No idea, but hoping forgotten > hold!!Aqua wrote:anyone on hold admitted? is it better to be forgotten or placed on hold?
On another note, I'm sort of debating sending an email asking about the status of my application. Is that worth doing at this stage, or will I just seem pushy?

Re: Columbia c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
I'm right there with you. I don't feel like it would be pushy--I mean come on, it's the middle of March! Their second/last ASW is now less than two weeks away, other schools' scholarship deadlines are rapidly approaching, etc. And it's been how long since some of us heard anything? Over four months?ssteiner wrote:Same. Of course, whether or not I see it as pushy doesn't really matter.

Yeah--I am getting to that point as well. With the looming ASW deadline I think it's fair to at least ask.zworykin wrote:I'm right there with you. Re: Columbia c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
I did this last week -- got a standard response that they couldn't give me any information on my application. Very frustrating, especially since I submitted my app at the end of October and went complete Nov. 11th. It's disappointing that Columbia would go over four months with no communication and then the best response they could give me was:
"Unfortunately, due to the large number of applications we've received it is not possible for us to give you a specific timeline on when you will be receiving a decision letter. Please know that every effort is made to inform all applicants of their decision by the end of April."
End of April. Conveniently past all scholarship deadlines and lots of other seat deposit deadlines!

Good luck-- I hope you hear back and they offer more than "We can't tell you." lol I'll probably send mine tomorrow.ssteiner wrote:Just bit the bullet and sent them an email. We'll see what happens!
