I think the group interviews also can be for borderline applicants because I consider myself to be borderline and I applied ED, so obviously they don't need to gauge my interest, they know it's my #1 and I have a group interview on Monday.

oops, typo. I did mean Union Station. And dammit, must stop thinking about it!law4vus wrote:I think she got Union Station and Judiciary Square messed up. I didn't want to correct her.msridiculous447 wrote:Union StationPeg wrote:Ugh, the wait is killing me.
How many of you torture yourselves by imagining life at GULC? Imagining your room at Gewirz Student Center, imagining your classes, studying in the GULC library, walking around Capitol Hill because it's right there, taking the train into the Union Square station every morning, getting externships in DC, shopping for groceries in DC, and all of that?
Because this is how I torture myself.
If I end up getting dinged, it will not be pretty.
I visited DC twice as a kid, and for some reason my strongest memories are of Union Station and of a really smelly guy who sat next to me on train once.

And GULC too, but we will not speak of that.

If interviews are for borderline candidates then did the held candidates also interview?

I was under the impression that some people were given the "Held" notice after they were interviewed, but I could be wrong about that.If interviews are for borderline candidates then did the held candidates also interview?

I am an enormous splitter - LSAT above 75th, GPA far below 25th. I was invited to interview, then was told my app was held about a week later. It was an alumni interview.Emma1 wrote:If interviews are for borderline candidates then did the held candidates also interview?

3.74,/177 I did a group interview earlier in January and still haven't heard back. Was invited to group interview a week or so after I submitted my app so I think group interviews may be a way to simply get more information from all applicants who live near the area?

updated for the 4th time...
~12/1 --> 12/13 --> 1/19 --> 1/21
I can't get into the site but apparently I should try Monday? I'm pretty sure I'm an auto-ding with 164/3.95

I wouldn't say auto ding. Dean Cornblatt tried to stress during our group interview that there is no such thing as auto ding at GULC, also amongst the two apps we had to choose from one was a low LSAT high GPA (the LSAT was a little higher than yours, but the GPA was a little lower). If you had a strong app, I would say its a good sign you've updated so many times with no ding or WL.Gotti wrote:updated for the 4th time...

Evaluating those apps was...interesting. Some people said some crazy things! In my group, there were some people who were trying to impress the Dean and be all super "holistic," so they wanted LSAT & GPA to only be like, 10% of the weight in terms of evaluating the applications. Good times.rbarcelo9 wrote:I wouldn't say auto ding. Re: GULC Waiting Thread
Yeah I was put in an awkward situation because "Susie" had my same exact stats, but I chose "Matt". He had a 172, and a 3.08 as a bio major! Also worked as a police officer for 5+ years. So hopefully GULC is less like me loldulcatis wrote:Evaluating those apps was...interesting. Some people said some crazy things! well a 120/1.0 is an auto ding. But if your numbers are competitive (164/3.95). I suppose what he said is there is no hard GPA or LSAT floorD. H2Oman wrote:rbarcelo9 wrote:I wouldn't say auto ding. PS: jealous of all the interviews...I guess i'm looking at the lack of an interview invite as a sign that I'm not gonna get in because they interview borderline candidates and that's DEFINITELY me at least lol

I did a group interview. From what the Dean said, it seemed like an applicant's location had an impact on whether they received a group interview request. If you live far from DC then that might be it, and that won't hurt your chances.Gotti wrote:PS: jealous of all the interviews...I guess i'm looking at the lack of an interview invite as a sign that I'm not gonna get in because they interview borderline candidates and that's DEFINITELY me at least lol

Dean Cornblatt said that the interview in Miami (the one I attended) was his first group interview outside of DC. I believe he mentioned going to NY next.
