Chicago is one of the stranger schools. They have a small class size so I think they only admit students with good numbers + a good fit for the school. Other schools say the good fit thing (including one in the midwest), but I don't think they necessarily mean it. The anecdotal data from LSN seems to indicate.. who knows?
Plenty of 172/3.6s got WLed while some 172/3.5s were accepted.

What do you guys think is a good 'fit' for Chicago?
I think I'm going to hold off on the de facto ED LOCI until they waitlist me.

I recommend
reading the law school profiles on here as well as the two interviews. It'll give you a pretty good idea of what's going on.

I got in last Friday. 3.63, 171, will have been out of school for 2 years come this fall.
It's nice to see that some schools consider more than just straight-up numbers.

Right here. 3/4 is my first UR date, though.

Same. 3/4 --> 3/9 still alive. My numbers should be WL or maybe reject, but we'll see..

Same here. I feel slightly hopeful because I figure that if they were going to reject/WL me, they could have just done it yesterday. But maybe they just haven't gotten to my application yet. Also, all but two of the decisions yesterday (3/10) that are on LSN are rejections/WLs. Nearly all of the 3/5 decisions are acceptances.

I don't know what to think about this cycle anymore. I've tried to make sense of different status updates and failed miserably thus far. Some of the turnarounds on yesterday's WL's/rejections were surprisingly fast (meaning only one UR date), yet conventional wisdom says that you need a couple of updates before a decision is rendered.

Ah thanks for reminding me.
I was always under the impression that Chicago didn't like "Why Chicago" essays... I think I might write one now and note my commitment to enrolling if accepted at the end.

It's hard to say, since Chicago took several 3.8+/168-169's but waitlisted a bunch of 3.6/172's. But they do have a reputation for emphasizing undergrad prestige.

Yeah, my UG is apparently very well-represented there. Chicago is more of a black box than I thought it was. (FWIW: LSAT at median, GPA between 25th and median)

Maybe Cali kids aren't gollum-like enough for U-Chicago.

oh whooops... i thought u meant you were WL at Stanford with a 3.86 and 173...
yeah sounds like YP to me... Chicago probably figured that those numbers paired with a Stanford UG were guaranteed for a HYS...

+1 to their valuing undergrad prestige--4.0/171 = WL. No one from my undergrad has ever been accepted (jr. college changed to 4-year in early 2000--already accredited). FYI

With apologies to those struggling with the inscrutable nature of Chicago's adcomms...weren't last week's admits supposed to hear about financial aid this week?

Did you call to ask or did you receive an e-mail? I don't understand why Chicago seems to be getting everything so wrong this cycle.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
