Not necessarily. Totally depends on the COA numbers, and your career goals. Feel free to PM if you want a more individualized opinions.lim wrote:I got the bump as well... having a much harder time deciding now...
Would I be crazy to turn this down for a substantially smaller t14 offer?

+1 I told them I wanted to visit before I made a final decision and couldn't attend ASW. I also haven't heard about any scholly money so I don't want to decide before then.thatssoraven wrote:Emailed admissions about an extension this weekend, haven't heard back yet. Also, has anyone had any luck getting the deadline extended? The fully really makes me rethink the school, but there's no way I'm committing without visiting.

In the exact same position as lim. Very torn between full ride at WUSTL, near half ride at a similarly ranked school in my region, and much smaller offer at a T14. If anyone in a similar situation has advice or wants to discuss, feel free to PM me!LET'S GET IT wrote:Not necessarily. Totally depends on the COA numbers, and your career goals. Just got an email saying my application is still under review, but the name was definitely not my name.

Was just coming to say the same thing. My new name is apparently John. Idk how I feel about this. You have me under review for two months and then you email me to tell me I'm under review addressing me as the incorrect name and referencing someone I didn't interview with.

Re: WUSTL c/o 2018 Applicants
Just got notice that they will not be increasing my current offer. Incredibly disappointed, and was expecting at least a little bit of a bump. This weekend Wash U was my #1 choice and now I'm not sure I will even be depositing.
Posting in hopes of finding others in the same boat to commiserate with.

In the same boat. I'd love to be included in this convo. Maybe someone can start a thread?Big Red wrote:Please pm me toohearsay77 wrote:In the exact same position as lim. Pretty surprised here... Was accepted back in late January and offered 30k a year.
Due to personal reasons I was expecting to take a year off and then got an email today that they increased me to full tuition. And I haven't even communicated with them!
Honored and everything but damn way to make my decision hard now.

Pretty set on WUSTL, but I realized I missed the financial aid deadline by a few weeks. Is this going to lock me out of loans for the year? Anyone have any thoughts on the matter? Feel like a moron right now.

Don't give up hope! I was told I wouldn't hear anything until after April 1st about two weeks ago, and then I got the bump today. If you haven't already, maybe you can ask for an extension given that?KMart wrote:Received an email regarding scholarship negotiations: told to wait until later in the cycle.

I did the same thing. The lady at the financial aid said that it won't affect the amount you get. Possibly the timing of the award, but that's about it. They pretty much automatically give you enough to cover your cost of attendance. You might want to talk with her, but that's what she told me last week.Traveller wrote:Pretty set on WUSTL, but I realized I missed the financial aid deadline by a few weeks. What's the deal with WUSTL right now? Emailed me to apply, bumped the schollies for y'all, and pushed back the app deadline on LSAC to August today. Did I miss the part where they are in free fall for some reason?
ETA: Not being snarky, sincerely wondering if I missed a ranking drop or something that would cause the late commitment push?

Also got a "no money available until after April 1st deposit".
They're definitely going full court press to secure as many above-median T14 accepted applicants as possible for the first seat deposit. I'm even willing to bet they've promised more money than they've budgeted, knowing some full-scholly offers will be turned down.

Asking us to speculate here. First, WUSTL is pretty generous. Second (totally guessing), maybe the #s of those who attended ASW as compared to last year's.ScottPilgrimv.TheLaw wrote:What's the deal with WUSTL right now?
