I've been out of the loop on this thread since my WL in December, so I apologize if this has been covered, but what's the consensus on Penn YP this cycle? Seems like a lot of people that should have been no-brainer admits have been WL.

That's been going on at Penn before any other school. It started years ago under their former Dean of Admissions Derek Meeker.

I like your user name so I really hope you get admitted!

Waitlisted with a why-penn and competitive numbers. Pretty bummed about it since Penn was a top choice.

GULC reported apps up 6%. Maybe this is the start of a return to higher competitiveness?

Are these WLs via email or status checker? My checker still says under review, so I'm guessing I'm safe...for now?

Sorry to all the WLs doe. Penn is so weird this cycle. (Well, a lot of schools are.)

It may be that people with lower numbers are now applying because they think the drop in applicants will give them a better shot.

WL email: 3.7
Status checker says WL 3.7 too.

Applied: Mid Jan.
Complete: End of Jan.
Comm. Review: 2.7 and 2.14

GPA: Almost 50th
LSAT: Above 75th

Edit: I did not write a Why Penn essay.

Out of curiosity, did people who are WL'd do why Penns? I'm wondering if this is largely a YP thing.

Dozens of people with 3.8+, 172+ numbers have been WL on this site this cycle. It is almost certainly YP.

Penn is notorious for YP.

Looks like Penn's spring break starts today. Maybe they're trying to get through all the files, including admits, before the break.
