Re: Penn c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 cycle)
I've been out of the loop on this thread since my WL in December, so I apologize if this has been covered, but what's the consensus on Penn YP this cycle? Seems like a lot of people that should have been no-brainer admits have been WL.

That's been going on at Penn before any other school. It started years ago under their former Dean of Admissions Derek Meeker.HouseTargaryen wrote:I've been out of the loop on this thread since my WL in December, so I apologize if this has been covered, but what's the consensus on Penn YP this cycle? Waitlisted with a why-penn and competitive numbers. Pretty bummed about it since Penn was a top choice.

GULC reported apps up 6%. Maybe this is the start of a return to higher competitiveness?

Are these WLs via email or status checker? My checker still says under review, so I'm guessing I'm safe...for now?
Sorry to all the WLs doe. Penn is so weird this cycle. (Well, a lot of schools are.)

It may be that people with lower numbers are now applying because they think the drop in applicants will give them a better shot.Lebrarian_Booker wrote:GULC reported apps up 6%. Maybe this is the start of a return to higher competitiveness?

Out of curiosity, did people who are WL'd do why Penns? I'm wondering if this is largely a YP thing.

Dozens of people with 3.8+, 172+ numbers have been WL on this site this cycle. It is almost certainly YP.love4life29 wrote:Out of curiosity, did people who are WL'd do why Penns? I'm wondering if this is largely a YP thing.

Looks like Penn's spring break starts today. Maybe they're trying to get through all the files, including admits, before the break.
