So does anyone know what the process is like for those who applied fairly early but didn't get accepted in the pre-Christmas waves? Does HLS have something like a 'maybe' grouping of applications that they re-read periodically?

From last years thread, the first js2s in January went out all the way on the 14th. But it looks like there are a lot more December ppl that haven't heard back this year than last so maybe we will hear something earlier in January.... wishful thinking?

Definitely seems like the vast majority of admits were the so-called "locks" or close to it. I'm guessing they're going to withhold judgement on the folks (like me) with borderline stats for a bit until they see how the class shapes up.

I feel like sending in my updated grades (that simply maintain my GPA) just to remind them that I applied.

Me too. It actually dropped by .001, but I'm still >75th and there were a couple of hard classes.

I've heard from a couple people this is a good thing to do (as long as your grades didn't drop significantly).

Also, I've seen you two posting a lot about your lack of a JS2, and I want to throw in my 2 cents. First, there could be a ton of reasons why you haven't gotten a decision yet, many of which don't necessarily mean you're less likely to get accepted. Maybe JS calls are sorted by who interviewed you, and she hasn't gotten to your interviewer yet. Or, maybe there IS a maybe pile that you are in, and right now she is calling the definite yeses. Even if this is the case though, this doesn't mean you won't get the call in the future.

Idk. I just know there could be a ton of reasons why you haven't gotten the call, and not all of them are indicative of a future ding. And, really, I think it helps to keep perspective. Odds are if you got an interview with Harvard, you have been accepted to a bunch of other schools (probably with scholarships) that most people in the world can only dream of.

i think it's a combination of high GPA/LSAT (esp. LSAT) and november/early december JS1 invite/request dates

feel free to confirm / argue but from the looks of it, you could have interviewed real late, like mid/late december and if you had good scores AND had an earlier JS1 invite/request (nov/early dec), you got the JS2 before people who even interviewed before you

Ya, I've tried to stop thinking about it so much because as you suggest there are countless potential reasons why I haven't heard back (though I've got some hunches). I know at least one person who had the same interviewer heard back on Wed/Thurs even though they interviewed almost a week later than I did, so as much as I'd like to hear that my interviewer's applicants aren't hearing back yet I don't think it's the case.

I've actually been taking it better lately, and I think some of my initial stemmed from the fact that I was very confident that I'd hear back fairly quickly from one of my dream schools like many people with my numbers have. I'm getting over that now, today was a fairly positive day unlike Wednesday and Thursday, and I'm trying harder to be less of a downer on here

Let the new year bring an abundance of JS1s and JS2s for us!
