Re: Columbia c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 cycle)
Checking in, was accepted last week after going complete in late January, quite an impressive turnaround, all the more odd considering it was my first T-14 acceptance. As much as I want to go Idk if at the end of the day I'll be able to justify going at sticker. Best of luck to everyone!

Scratch my earlier pessimism -- Just went complete after a mid-January submission!

On the bright side, you will definitely get a response within a month and a half. Would have loved that guarantee.Hitchensian wrote:True! Submitted 1/15, so tired of seeing "completion pending." It's a long shot anyways but I would love some movement.

Re: Columbia c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 cycle)
Long time lurker, first time poster. Just have a quick question: I had my Columbia interview early last week and I was told to expect a decision within 1-2 weeks. Only thing is, I'm attending NYU's ASDs later this week and figure it makes sense to see Columbia as well while I'm on the other side of the continent. Obviously I'm yet to be accepted, but if my decision were slightly sped up I could potentially sit in on the final ASD at Columbia (or just avoid the school altogether if they decide to reject me, haha). I didn't see it appropriate to ask for a faster decision time during my Columbia interview, but do any of you think I should email the admissions office and explain my situation?
Appreciate any advice.
(I thought it more appropriate to post this in this section rather than the school visits section. Hope that's okay.)

I am by no means an authority and someone else will probably have better advice but I see no problem with calling them tomorrow and asking them if you can visit the campus this weekend while you are in town. I don't think it will necessarily speed up the decision or get you into the ASW but at least you will be able to visit while you are in town.6rothm wrote:Long time lurker, first time poster. Re: Columbia c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 cycle)
Yeah, this is probably a good way to broach the topic. By just asking to visit, explaining your current app status, and casually mentioning that you're in town for ASD at NYU you are politely but tacitly implying that a rush on the decision would be convenient. And even if they don't rush the decision, you at least get to see the campus and such.6rothm wrote:I appreciate this, Specs.The-Specs wrote:I am by no means an authority and someone else will probably have better advice but I see no problem with calling them tomorrow and asking them if you can visit the campus this weekend while you are in town. Complete since 02/05. Nothing since then. 171, 4.03.
Does Columbia email (and post) acceptances, and just post rejections?

I have the same complete date as you. Late January completes have been getting decisions last week so hopefully it'll be our turn soon. I believe they e-mail rejections as well as holds and reserves.OVOXO wrote:Complete since 02/05. Nothing since then. 171, 4.03.

I know they say that you must submit a request to use the February LSAT score in your application, but are they really going to ignore my updated CAS report if I don't? Went from 160 to 171.
