Is this the first Tuesday in a long time we haven't seen any action? Sad.

Re: Northwestern Law C/O 2016 (2012-2013 Applicants)
LOL what?? I can literally name a hundred accounting students/professionals that I've met and not one has said that they really like the subject or the profession. It is dreadful to say the least. I interned at a Big4 firm and the work was so mundane and excruciatingly boring that I had the urge to stab myself in the eye with a pencil for mere excitement. Not even exaggerating.VeeD101 wrote:aahahahah this is so funny. I am a CPA and I have found it so easy to write on that prompt. The other one has been a struggle the whole way. Why do all accountants hate accounting? I really like it (a lot)helpplease wrote: Depending on whether I can think of anything legitimate to write for that stupid achievement one, I may only submit one. That prompt is just really difficult for me for some reason. Perhaps its cause I majored in literally the most boring topic possible (accounting) and I really can't see myself achieving anything worthy of an essay outside of the legal profession. Sighh

Once I got past the first paragraph of the fictional one it really started to flow and I actually enjoyed writing it and ended up having to cut back. Trouble is, it turned out to be a little bit quirky. I'm worried that maybe someone who hates fun reads it. I feel like law school applications call for utmost sobriety.
The second one will definitely be akin to squeezing blood out of a stone for me, but I'll take a stab at it since everyone else is. Good old TLS, always making me go the extra mile.

I'm working on the optional essays too. Starting with the fictional dinner one because I have no idea what to write for the other one. How do you explain that you would be really good at something and even becoming famous for it without sounding full of yourself AND making the admissions committee think.. hey why don't you go do that instead then?
Did everyone take the 'fictional TV' character part to mean a character from a TV show? I was planning on writing about a movie character. But now, I'm not so sure if that's what the prompt implies. Any ideas?

I wrote about a TV character, but I doubt they would be upset if the character wasn't on a regularly recurring series or something. I bet "TV" can be expanded to mean film.

That's what I thought... But I wouldn't want them to think that I can't even follow instructions and get nailed for that..talesofyore wrote:haha, I did think of that.pammie0415 wrote:I'm working on the optional essays too. My "current status date" on the status checker just updated to today's date (previously have always been complete since a mid-jan date). Did this happen to anyone else? Does it mean DLS is forthcoming?

My complete date updated to today too and I am desperately trying to figure out what it means!
Also, can we log into the letter retrieval website before getting that email? Is the login info different than what we use for the status checker?

My status date updated at the end of January and I'm still waiting on a decision. I think it doesn't really mean much, unfortunately. Though, there were some on here who updated and heard a couple of weeks later.

I havent heard back yet either, but I'm a complete moron and missed the deadline for the needaccess form. Does this mean on the off chance I do get in that I wont be able to fund my education?

You'll have a week after acceptance to submit it. They actually do not accept it if you have not yet been admitted.vinnnyvincenzo wrote:I havent heard back yet either, but I'm a complete moron and missed the deadline for the needaccess form. no, most people never get complete date updates.luxurylawyer wrote:Is a date update a necessary condition for receiving a decision?T20hopeful89 wrote: My status date updated at the end of January and I'm still waiting on a decision. When you get DLS status, you can login to the letter retrieval system with the same user/pw as your status checker. However, it typically takes 1-2 hours for the login to work, so if you notice DLS as soon as it changes you get to wait around losing your mind for a while.mehh wrote:My complete date updated to today too and I am desperately trying to figure out what it means!risa wrote:My "current status date" on the status checker just updated to today's date (previously have always been complete since a mid-jan date). I think if you are admitted after March 1, you'll have a week after admittance to get your FinAid stuff in to NU. NeedAccess itself has a deadline sometime in June.vinnnyvincenzo wrote:I havent heard back yet either, but I'm a complete moron and missed the deadline for the needaccess form. Re: Northwestern Law C/O 2016 (2012-2013 Applicants)
I see they also just finally removed the "Please allow 6-8 weeks (from December 1) for a decision. Please be advised that your complete date may change due to internal processing" header, so now I just have "Your application is now complete and is being reviewed by the Admissions Committee." Thanks, guys. I'd already sorta figured out the 6-8 weeks from 12/1 didn't apply...risa wrote:My "current status date" on the status checker just updated to today's date (previously have always been complete since a mid-jan date). Thanks for the well wishes. I'm not really beat up about this. Slightly disappointed, but I expected it. Besides, I doubt I would have gotten any scholarships there anyways, which would make attending still quite unlikely.mrizza wrote:sorry man, gl with the rest of your cyclePresidentjlh wrote:Rejected.

Best wishes to the rest of you. Northwestern is a fine school, you guys will do some great things.

UR early January-ish... Submitted early November.
Decision today: In, 172/3.56
Took long enough! However I applied to the J.D./Ph.D program so it's a little different timeline and I'm not sure if I'm any help at all.

Held. A bit surprised I wasn't rejected outright since my LSAT is below median and I'm applying without any full time job experience.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
