+1. Especially as someone who is already out at HY. Was really hoping for a top-3 acceptance. Maybe it just isn't in the cards.

Yea there was a lot. On the bright side for people itt, literally 9/10 people I talked to had H acceptances as well and were about 50/50 on where they were going.

I'm generally a lurker, but I feel like Berkeley's Admissions Dean is way more of a loose cannon than Ms. Deal. I went to an admissions event and he made some off-color remark about Canadians and then made some half-assed apology to me about it when it came out that I am a Canadian. It wouldn't stop me from attending, but it was kind of a dick move and I doubt he would have felt as comfortable saying something similar about Mexico.

I thought the same thing at first, but when I went to visit Berkeley I met the dean of admissions informally and he was like yep we're all done admitting people for this cycle - it was a tough one! or something like that, and the way this conversation was characterized seemed similar. Personally, my hope is quickly fading. I'm not sure what incentive an admitted student would have to make this up.

I think I saw somewhere that Berkeley had publicly advertised that they were done with initial decisions, maybe in an email or maybe on their website. I also don't think it's the same situation as Stanford because I'm pretty sure they've given initial decisions to everyone. It's not like the Stanford possibility that everyone left is just WL or rejection.

I agree that it's different. I hope it isn't true either! Maybe the person I talked to will be proved wrong and there will be another admit wave, just seems unlikely.

Yeah, Berkeley sent out an email newsletter in March that explicitly said they were finished filling their class and had released all decisions. If I were ranking the admissions offices/processes, Berkeley would be #1.

That was my experience, and that's why I'm inclined to believe what I was told (that direct admits are nearly, if not entirely, done for the cycle). That said, I hope I misunderstood or am for some other reason misinformed. :/
