Re: Cornell 2011 applicants
here is a thought experiment:
1) i have not received a decision yet.
2) today is april 12
3) this school's 1st seat deposit must be postmarked 4/15
4) i have not been informed by e-mail
5) assuming an acceptance packet, which would include this seat deposit form, would be sent after notification by email
thus, i will not accepted in time to send in a seat deposit--final conclusion: i will not be accepted.
subsequently, i should feel comfortable sending in my seat deposit for another school.
is this solid enough?

I believe you can send in deposits after the 15th if you receive decision after the 15th.tourdeforcex wrote:here is a thought experiment:

Re: Cornell 2011 applicants
There are plenty of people who get accepted after the deposit deadline (and I don't mean WL-Accepted). That being said, you are unlikely to be accepted at this point (because of how late it is, not because of when the deposit deadline is) and it would be stupid not to put a deposit somewhere else due to the high likelihood that you aren't getting into Cornell.tourdeforcex wrote:here is a thought experiment:

This is extremely depressing news. Still waiting on Cornell. I was so sure I would find out today also...bk187 wrote:There are plenty of people who get accepted after the deposit deadline (and I don't mean WL-Accepted). Re: Cornell 2011 applicants
It's a smart thing for Cornell to do. Wait for as many uninterested applicants to withdraw before having to render a decision on them. Applicants with really high #s are thus less likely to harm their yield rate.

Was the interview request via e-mail ? Will the interview be local for you ?

Re: Cornell 2011 applicants
General consensus seems to be that interview is for really strong applicants.whirledpeas86 wrote:I just got a request for an interview....three days before the deposit deadline. Wut?

Re: Cornell 2011 applicants
The request was via email and they recommended that I come do it in Ithaca (didn't offer to pay for my travel), but if need be, I could do it via phone.CanadianWolf wrote:Was the interview request via e-mail ? Will the interview be local for you ?

Yeah, when I withdrew from my other schools I just emailed the withdrawals. What's the worst they can do to you if they have another preferred method? Rescind your acceptance?théo wrote:i think so. i did.subtle wrote:Can we just email withdrawals?Spykuh wrote:i got the interview request too...how do i withdraw?

Sending an email will not burn a nonexistent bridge with a random staff member in Cornell's admissions office.subtle wrote:Well, sure, but who wants to burn bridges?

Oh god let me get in tomorrow. It's been a week since my 3rd UR date. I literally cannot handle the anticipation anymore. I haven't ate today.

FYI, the people in the financial aid office said that you don’t have to send a deposit until 2 weeks after you receive your financial aid letter.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
