I asked and was told there was no way to predict "if/when I would be accepted" in a really friendly email that got my hopes up, but...that was a month ago.

I just met with Dean Zearfoss, and right before we met she picked up a small stack of application files to review. She said she'd gotten behind because their accepted students weekend just happened but was going to do some reading this week.

So... I don't know what that means. Just more grist for the "when will I be accepted/wl'ed/dinged" anxiety mill maybe...

But Michigan seems like a really special place--I hope you all get in!

Also, a general question about my chances. My numbers are solid for Michigan (173/3.7X) but my app was late and wasn't really tailored to Michigan. Do I stand a good chance at acceptance or am I doomed to the waitlist?

no idea what chance of admission is for late applicants.

The status checker updates every day. If it freezes on a previous, that sometimes means decisions are out.

I was admitted 3/25 last year. I am pretty sure I was one of the last, if not the last person admitted for last cycle (from regular review).

From what I understand Boston is a very difficult market to break into. Its not that large and its loaded with law schools. Plus there are a lot of people at law schools across the country who went to school in Boston for undergrad and would like to go back. CT, ME, NH, RI, and VT are just really small states with small legal markets. There aren't a lot of people at Michigan with ties to those states and there aren't a lot of high paying jobs in those states either. So yes there aren't a lot of people applying to jobs in New England except for Boston and that's just a tough place to break into (I would guess 5% of the law school wants Boston). I think there are definitely people at Michigan who go to New York with hopes of moving to Boston after a few years. I'm sure some do, other probably get comfortable in NY and stay, and others probably end up somewhere else altogether. Just don't assume that if you go to Penn, Berkley, Virginia, etc its going to increase your chances of getting a high paying job in Boston, their students run into basically the same problem and so do NYU and Columbia. You will see higher numbers of people going to New England from the east coast schools but that's almost certainly because a lot more try to go to New England, I doubt the success rates of those who try is any different.
