They aren't "named" in the sense of a Ruby or Vanderbilt. What they do is just put a big donor's name on it and ask you to write a thank you email to them. It is really for the donors, not us. Although you do use the name on a resume, if you choose to include it. So it does have some use.
ETA: and you get to go to a nice banquet dinner thing with free booze so they can show off what the donors bought. Really circlejerky, but still, free booze.
Oh baby, baby, say no more. You had me at free booze.

I decided to creep on the list of donors/scholarships listed on WUSTL's website, and was pleasantly surprised at the number of scholarships dedicated to Scandinavian recipients. Adcomm, if you're reading this.. Jag talar lite svenska! Please send some Scandinavian monies to the Swede from Florida.

Congrats! Obviously 167 URM is going to have options all over the place, but seriously go to ASW, it was an amazing time and it's an amazing school. Good luck with everything

Definitely this. But fair warning, ponyboy, as I know you also applied to Texas (and you're in state, correct?). I went to WUSTL just to visit with all intentions of going to Texas. Leaving WUSTL knowing that it is likely I won't be going back nearly put a tear in my eye.

Heading back from my spring break trip. Currently in Attax's home state for the first time (besides the Dallas airport which hardly counts). Wind farms and cows galore!

WHere are you at? Wind farms and cows means you are probably in West Texas.

I won't lie - my high school had a small farm right next to campus. But it was a farm in the middle of the burbs.

Currently near Amarillo
And it was a great trip. Hit up Santa Fe, Albuquerque, and Taos, NM over 5 days. Lots of great outdoorsy stuff.
And yes I totally drove by the breaking bad locations lol

My high school had cows next door. Granted, coming from a town <2,000 people (although now bigger! woohoo) there were cows everywhere.

Yes I'm a Texas resident. WUSTL has already done an amazing job of selling it to me and I haven't even visited the campus. They should create a special UT-WUSTL half a year at each program just for us.
