Dream,
As I am sure you have noted, it varies for ppl. For those of us who applied earlier in the cycle, we received ours much quicker, but now it has been taking quite some time.

How do you guys think a quick, LOCI styled e-mail would go over considering I didn't write a Why Mich? Would that come off as desperate, or, if done correctly, would they take it as the sincere interest that it is?

You say that like there is something wrong with desperation...WhatUpKells wrote:How do you guys think a quick, LOCI styled e-mail would go over considering I didn't write a Why Mich? Would that come off as desperate, or, if done correctly, would they take it as the sincere interest that it is?

I don't think it would go over poorly, go for it.WhatUpKells wrote:How do you guys think a quick, LOCI styled e-mail would go over considering I didn't write a Why Mich? Would that come off as desperate, or, if done correctly, would they take it as the sincere interest that it is?

i think they should be composed on letter head if possible and signed be hand. if sent digitally they should be converted to PDF.
It is my opinion that a "quick LOCI" shows that you don't care as much as someone who took some of the steps that i just outlined above.

No decision for over three months plus no status updates = angry applicant

Re: michigan 2010 applicants
Nearly suffered an aneurysm the other day when I received an email from Dean Zearfoss, and the preview line in Gmail read, "A little more than a week ago, we sent you a big packet. We hate to..."
As in "We hate to tell you that we sent the packet in error. Sorry." Fortunately, it was instead a nice email checking in and reiterating their offer.
I don't think I am cut out for the rigors of this process.

Based on the limited visible preview line, I thought that they had extended me an offer in error and were informing me of such. But the line actually read "We hate to ruin the surprise by telling you what it contained, but let me just say that we never do email follow-ups to make sure people receive bad news."

Re: michigan 2010 applicants
Michigan, please accept me. Why won't you? Everyone else with my numbers has been accepted, and $45k is just enough to steal me away from my other offers. I thought you were serious that you love students from my undergrad, but it seems like the statement was made hastily without taking the time to consider if I am a person you are abl to love. Please love me, Michigan.

Don't worry, I sign the letter with <3 and the email title will have '!!!!'. I've learned so much from your examples. I haven't reached 'haiku' desperate yet though.Veritas wrote:it needs more "!!!!" and "<3"Jericwithers wrote:Michigan, please accept me. Why won't you? For how tiresome a status checker which updates the date every day is normally, it's down right nerve-wracking (for me anyhow) when it *stops*.
Mine never departed from the 13th today...did any else's?
