I'm tempted to gamble on BC at sticker if I can't get into a T14.

I second this sentiment. but if you get decent money from them BC isn't a bad option if you are catholic and okay working with other catholics in new england.

Well okay I technically can afford the trip but it'd take a serious chunk out of my bank account. Are they still doing held interviews? I see there's one spot left on the 28th for an on-campus interview and I could buy a ticket and fly out there but I also have two absences in a class I have on Thursdays so maybe it's not such a great idea. Don't think my professor will excuse it.

Fuck the schedule; call where ever you want to visit and arrange a date. Don't worry about official 'held' interviews at NU or whatever, just go. If you want to go to Duke more and you think you have a good shot, go there and figure out a good time to visit. Do what you got to do, man. Find a way to do it around classes. Put everything you have in to this, dude.

I would be surprised at a WL given my numbers. Wondering why they are taking so long to probably just reject me. If I got in I would literally cry tears of joy. I think I've already mentioned that in this thread.

Almost everyone was white. School spirit on steroids. I'm an introvert. There's no escaping U of M once you're in A2 - it's everywhere, and to me that was overwhelming. I want to be able to disappear after class. The student body also seemed young and there didn't appear to be much else to do besides drink beer when it came to socializing. Also, the laid back and collegial feel just isn't what I'm looking for - I thrive in a more uptight and professional setting. It's a fantastic school and there were many good things I observed, but this is definitely not the school for me. I am praying for an acceptance elsewhere.

Anyone have experience visiting NYU as an APPLICANT (before decision)? Do they even acknowledge you are there (people that actually matter (adcomms)) or is it just a visit that makes you want to go there even more?

As in, should I go this thursday to visit knowing it may boost my chances? I've already been to NYU / Wash. Sq. Park many times but I'm desperate..

soft hold meaning they might need your numbers to fill out medians but aren't sure. last week they decided a 4.14 would be nice. this week could be a 171. worse place to be with a numbers-driven school like NYU is probably like 169/3.65, where you aren't exactly needed on either end.

I had given up a long time ago and was shocked when I got the call today considering I am below the 25 percentile for their LSAT scores. While your GPA is low for NYU, with the decline in test takers there are a lot more high GPAs around than high LSATs, so NYU might decide that your 171 is pretty attractive when trying to maintain their medians. What I learned from this is that it isn't over until you get the rejection letter. Best of luck!!

I'm in literally the same spot with a 170 and higher gpa. I think we're getting WL'ed, that's what has seemed to happen historically. I would be more surprised if they rejected us than accepted us though. Why hold an application that long otherwise?

Not to be a debbie downer, but it might be worth it to save that for the WL, because that's generally something they (law schools in general, not sure about NYU) track to gauge your interest. You may have more of a chance of them paying attention to you at that point too. Visiting can't hurt though, and it will give you material for an loci if necessary.
