For those who have been admitted and received a scholarship: did you receive scholarship information in your initial admission packet, or did it come later?

This is not the right thread for that question. This is a thread for those still waiting to hear. Find the Michigan 2014 thread.ATR wrote:For those who have been admitted and received a scholarship: did you receive scholarship information in your initial admission packet, or did it come later?

People with 24 posts don't usually tell people with 2000+ posts where everything is... People who have been accepted are still 2011 applicants. I was just trying to be helpful to the poster by pointing him to the place he was more likely to get an answer. Posting ubiquitously on this forum doesn't necessarily equate with attentiveness.r6_philly wrote:People with 24 posts don't usually tell people with 2000+ posts where everything is... And, ahem, I'm not sure what your real issue is here, r6, but self-appointed moderators don't get to tell any poster what he or she can or cannot post

Having a bad day . . .?

I have exactly the same dates that you do (submission/status checker) and I'm still optimistic. UM seems to be doing a pretty "holistic" review this year and has already sent out their huge batch of wait-lists, which they seem to only do once. It's certainly possible that we are both part of a "rejection" batch, but I think we still have a couple of weeks before all hope is lostakili wrote:I'm 2/10 and didn't get in today.

I thought that you were accusing R6 of being a self-appointed moderator, when you in fact had pretty much self-appointed yourself moderator about an hour ago when you told someone where to post. Hence the irony. Not sure if that's what I was supposed to get, but it was an excellent excuse for a LOLCAT.artemis178 wrote:I'm glad somebody got it
But enough of that. Let's all be friends!

I just don't like people telling other people to stick to a supposedly appropriate subject when they didn't start the thread. It's never been the way how Internet forums worked.artemis178 wrote:

*Sigh.* Honestly, r6, you misread me badly if you thought I was trying to tell the OP to stick to a "supposedly appropriate subject." Why would anyone be so petty? Who could possibly care about the "appropriate subject" matter of a thread enough to post about it? Good grief! My intention was to assist the OP in finding his answer. That is all.r6_philly wrote:I just don't like people telling other people to stick to a supposedly appropriate subject when they didn't start the thread. What I wrote was, "This is not the right thread for that question. This is a thread for those still waiting to hear. Find the Michigan 2014 thread." This is straightforward and neutral.
One would have to to read into my post to interpret my tone as as accusatory in any way.
No doubt, if I had written the following my motives probably would have been clearer to you, but the content is more or less the same:
"This is not the right thread for that question," since "this is a thread for those still waiting to hear," and most of us probably don't know the answer. If you "find the Michigan 2014 thread" they will probably be able to better help you.
Oh, and, incidentally, I do not check to see how many posts a user has made before responding to him or her. That would be wildly inconvenient and my guess is that you don't really use that as your own standard of practice for the same reason.

At any rate, I apologize for the misunderstanding.

I think if you said "you probably won't get the answer in this thread" then it would have read differently.artemis178 wrote:

But the point is, you are not correct in that this is not the right thread ... because many admits still post in the original thread, as illustrated by all the admits chiming in afterward.
That's why I mentioned post count because he/she obviously know the answer can be had here. Actually it would be easier to get the answer here because more people are subscibed to this thread by posting in it earlier.
It's ok. I get what you were saying now. But it was unfortunately not made out to be understood that way - by me and a few others.
It's cool

Re: Michigan 2011
Waitlisted a couple days ago. Pretty stoked not to get rejected outright with my splitter numbers. Mich has one of the best Japan-specific programs around and I really want to get in.
I want to write a strong LOCI but don't really have anything new to say that wasn't in my application. Is it bad to just repeat the whole 'why Michigan' thing in a LOCI? Or should I just say 'I'm still interested' and be done with it?
