Weird little coincidence, at this point last year there were 21 reported rejections on TLS. This year, there have been 21 reported rejections...

So they are on pace with rejecting people...

As another data point, on LSN there were 92 JS2s reported by this date last year, but only 62 have reported by now this year. Of course, there could easily be a sampling issue, but that is a pretty big difference %-wise.

I feel like a massive wave of JS2s could be brewing. My bet is for Tuesday.

Just a heads up, although I agree that they are behind on JS2s and that we're due for another big wave of acceptances, I don't think using current LSN data in the midst of a cycle is really reliable. I think there's a lot of people who keep their profiles private, or don't update their cycles until the end of the year, which means they would be missed in that count of 62 accepted.

Just been looking at LSN's Harvard cycle from last year. It looks like the JS2 wave on 2/20 last year was from mid-late Jan JS1s, and the following wave on 3/09 was for early-mid Feb JS1s. Do you guys think that the same type pattern will be true this year?

I think the established thought on cycles mirroring each other is "maybe, but there's no possible way to tell with any certainty."

I am sorry for being an oblivious newb, but could you please explain what this is and what kind of conclusions can we make based on this information?

It's a running total of interview slots that have been opened. People that have been invited to interview and current students are able to access the website and see when slots open up for interviews. When slots open up, it generally indicates that JS1s will follow soon. It's imperfect, and slots inevitably get missed, but it's a great tool for a minimum estimate of JS1s that have been distributed this cycle.

Thanks for the explanation. Do we know how many of the 25 slots next week are full and how many are empty? And does this mean we may see a JS1 wave this week, then?

The slots I post are all open. There are 5 slots open next week, and 25 the following.

But I literally just posted on this forum a few hours ago asking about the timeline and was almost 100% positive that I wasn't going to have any good news since I applied in December. I don't even know how to respond to the email as of right now (too excited)

Are we allowed to post information as to what the email says? And are we allowed to discuss probable interview questions?

Haha congrats There is an interview thread around somewhere that pretty much has everything! I also think your email should have a link to sign up for a skype interview and if it doesn't that'll be in a future email!

Congrats! Are you sure you're supposed to reply to set up your date? As far as I know, all JS1 emails come with a link to select an interview slot.

ETA: I'm not debating the merits of whether or not you should reply to that email (I don't think you should, but it's been maybe pretty evident that people disagree often regarding this subject matter), just stating that I thought all interviews were set up using the link, not by replying to the email.

I didn't respond. My excitement overwhelmed me (no use of logic in the temporary moment- ha) It does after you click for the skype link. It also prompts an option for anyone not able to video conference via skype for any reason.

That was my first thought as well. But it seems automated. I don't know much about the process though in terms of how requests are sent out. I know my UChicago invite was sent to me in the middle of the night on a Wednesday.

P.s. You guys are all so helpful. I stayed away from TLS (and message boards in general) because I was told that basing expectations off of other applicants' timelines would cause immense paranoia and frustration. I can see how that might ring true but it's also very helpful!

You can see the times between JS1 and JS2 for various applicants on the spreadsheet on the first post in this thread! I got accepted a little over 2 weeks from my interview - Also a Monday
