Re: Harvard, C/O 2017, Applicants Thread (2013-2014)
Hard to say if it's true, especially how wrong we've been so far. It seems like fewer JS2's have gone out since the first wave than usual (at least based on TLS info), there have usually been more days of calling, and they've usually gotten further down the line in interview dates than they have now.
So, I've got a hunch there may be some movement on Monday to bring them closer to where they usually are (assuming the above is true), but it's just a hunch.

While I hesitate to speculate too wildly, I will say that there have been fewer JS2 days then in previous cycles. Further, it seems like Thursday was a very small batch of admits. I think that you all have a decent chance of hearing something on Monday. In my phone call, JS mentioned that she was trying to admit people before the holidays in order to give us something extra to celebrate so if they are open on Monday, it seems likely that they would try to make at least a few calls.

I feel like I made a whole lot of people more nervous since I got a JS2 with a 12/10 JS1. FWIW, It looks like a 175+ scorers are hearing back really fast and I think a lot of it had to do with my professional goals, which aren't very standard for an HLS applicant.chneyo wrote: One day in the office there arose so much chatter
That I opened Harvard’s thread to see what was the matter.
“Jingo accepted,” one poster proclaimed.
“He’s going to Harvard, they called him by name.”
Congratulations were flowing as posters did cheer,
But with Jingo’s acceptance rose my own idle fears.
I rushed to my phone. No missed calls. No JS2.
As day became night I still had no news.
I'm sure JS will come back from break with a lot more JS2s for you guys.

Nope. I'm still not sure if it's worth it to pursue both degrees at Harvard, since there's a business specialty track at the law school and they have a lot of classes and resources for people who want to pursue a career in business and I want to practice law immediately out of school. I'm considering applying next year though. It's really a great dilemma to have.scoobers wrote:

Was still on TLS building a spreadsheet or two.
He plugged in some numbers with the greatest of care,
In hopes of discharging the stress in the air.

And jobs we ignored and family forsake
To spend nights on the forum, obsessive, awake.

As day became night I still had no news.
In the hours to follow, as more acceptances came,
I started to wonder if my application was lame.
Was my PS worth reading? Were my letters sub-par?
With my LSAT and GPA would JS make it that far?
I soon grew exhausted by the thoughts in my head.
Weary and broken I departed for bed.
I made one final post as I turned out the lights,
“Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night!”

let me put your minds to ease.
if they didn't send out a JS2 before Friday 12/20, it ain't gonna happen until 2014.
just about every office at Harvard is closed today - library, registrar, you name it. they're on break.
the weather is terrible. no one wants to go in today.
lastly, there is no logistical reason for them to push these out before 2014, given that they've extended the application deadline to March 1, giving them extra time.
not to be a downer, but 2014 is when it'll happen. January is still good, right ?

I think you may actually be right, at this point. They'll be taking lunch soon, and I doubt they'll be staying in the office and calling past five, since their break officially starts then.Mort_the_Tort wrote:let me put your minds to ease.

Even if we just get an afternoon round of calls, she'll only have time to notify a handful of applicants.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
