Congratulations to everyone who got a VCE!
Whatever your status, please do input it into the Google Doc. The more responses we have, the more we can tell about our own chances.
Here is the form: --LinkRemoved--
Here is the spreadsheet summarizing the responses: --LinkRemoved--
Also, if your status changes (that is, you go from held to accepted or whatever), just PM me, let me know which line in the spreadsheet you are or what data point, and I'll change it to make the spreadsheet accurate.

Can you edit the form to make it less convoluted? No need for long sentences.knickerbocker wrote:Congratulations to everyone who got a VCE!

Thanks for doing it though<3.
Edit: would anyone like to share and critique LOCIs?

I was gonna mention that. I think you could reduce that one long thing to "no decision."WhiteGuy5 wrote:Can you edit the form to make it less convoluted? No need for long sentences.knickerbocker wrote:Congratulations to everyone who got a VCE!

Re: Columbia c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
WhiteGuy and Jam, I see what you're saying, but I made that response so long because I wanted to make sure that the form is accurate. That is, someone who is held might click "no decision" because a final decision hasn't been made, but the whole point of the form is to distinguish among applicants who have been held, reserved, or have heard nothing thus far.
Also, the form is supposed to distinguish between people who haven't gone complete yet (very late submitters) and people who went complete awhile ago but haven't heard anything else from CLS.
Does that make sense, or is the spreadsheet just too convoluted?

Lol not true man I liked the one before this.snehpets wrote:knickerbocker wrote: Whiteguy never approves of anyone's spreadsheets
ok fine maybe it's a little true.
Also, people who have gotten into CLS already have no right to criticize those who have not.

Don't be so quick to assume a hold means rejection. Look at all the ridiculous numbers being held. It seems to be just a precaution.

Re: Columbia c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
I think based on people's numbers on TLS, getting held (at least for this round) is NOT a bad thing. Quite the contrary actually. The "Hold" category might include people they are on the fence with + a very soft Yield Protect (those less interested in going to Columbia/already accepted at HYS might withdraw after getting Held). If I was in either of those groups, the possibility of waiting until the end of APRIL to make my decision would royally piss me off. I'd withdraw immediately after getting Held.
That would leave CLS with a smaller Held pile of applicants who are more likely to matriculate than otherwise.
Both their higher-than-expected yield rate last year and the purported drop in the number of applicants could explain why they are being super cautious this time around. CLS is the buffer between HYS and the rest of the T6--it has the potential to be hurt most by the changes in the application pool.
Edit: I usually think my speculative insights are gawbage; but that made a lot of sense actually.

Not the worst theory on earth especially when you see shit like this:WhiteGuy5 wrote:I think based on people's numbers on TLS, getting held (at least for this round) is NOT a bad thing. That's ridiculous. Those are damn near auto-admit Yale numbers if such a thing existed.HELD with a 179/3.86. Canadian. Looks like I'll be at NYU.
