under review 4/7 (uhh??)

At least 1 person who went UR 4/06 got a decision today. It seems a tiny bit odd that some of us should get UR 4/07 while others got UR 4/06.

Wonder if those of us UR 4/07 will hear back tomorrow?

Don't get your hopes up. The only people who heard back 1-2 days after going under review were people who were deferred from the EA pool. And I think they were all waitlisted lol.

I went from 4/4 to 4/6 also. But it was from my 2nd IR to 3rd IR.

Advance apologies: I'm sure this information is in the thread somewhere, but honestly, I got so irritated at Cornell's slower-than-molasses behavior that I stopped keeping up with all developments related to it to preserve my sanity. If someone would be so kind as to answer the following, I would be much obliged:

1. What is Cornell's deposit deadline?

2. Are all notifications made via e-mail, including acceptances? (I thought I recalled reading in another post that Cornell snail-mailed* decisions.)

3. Does Cornell notify accepted students of scholarship offers along with their initial acceptance or do those follow after? If they follow, is that notification made via e-mail or snail-mail*?

*Or, in keeping with the rest of Cornell's admissions style, are these notifications delivered by an actual snail? A trained one, of course.

1. The 15th. But you have 2 weeks to deposit if you get notified after the 15th I believe.

2. Admit/WL are by email. Not sure on rejections.

3. Scholarship/aid comes after acceptance. I think it is through snail mail but some people have successfully called their fin aid office and gotten them to email or fax their aid sheet.

Thanks! It's going to be a tough decision. Vandy is $50,000 cheaper over three years, but my first impression is that Cornell's LRAP blows Vandy's out of the water.

This was the email:

Dear XXX,

Thank you for your patience. The financial aid committee has returned your file to me and I am happy to report that your academic year scholarship has been increased from 15,000/yr to 20,000/yr, 10,000 each semester. I will create a new letter for your records and mail out your official notification right away.

In the meantime, if you have any further questions please do not hesitate to ask. We hope that you will joining us this fall.

At this point in the cycle, I don't think dates moving quickly mean anything other than they are rushing to get decisions out reasonably in advance of the deposit deadline.
