I've been complete since 1/5, and my application status date was updated 2/1 but I haven't heard a peep since...any thoughts?

Give them another week or so and then call them to inquire.

I'm in the same situation. I was complete 1/4 and my status checker was updated on 2/8

Well, for one thing, you can get paid for co-ops and you actually are employed by the agency for which you're doing co-op. The second semester, I believe, there's limited/no classroom teaching and you're sent out to be employed for "hands on" education. Or so I've been told by a Northeastern professor.
I think you misunderstood what the prof told you, cuz that's not true.

Co-op v. clinics: Co-ops are full-time, non-credit, only the employer evaluates you, and you can work for any legal employer doing any kind of legal work. Clinics are part-time, 4-6 credits (can't remember exactly how many credit hours you get, but you work 20 hrs/wk), under the supervision of a faculty member who evaluates you, and are only for specific topics- --LinkRemoved--
I believe that you can apply for work-study funding for clinic at NUSL.

Nope, BU/BC for sure. I love Boston and I don't want to leave so I just sent an app to every school here.

Well good luck with BU/BC if your applications are still pending. My friend at school got into Boston College Law. I sent applications to everywhere in Boston as well except Harvard (even though my mother teaches at the medical school, though I am sure it wouldn't matter for the law school). Plus with my scores I am sure I won't get into BU or BC but I will be happy going to Northeastern Law and hopefully I will do well enough to go to BC for their LLM program.

I wish you luck though! :)

Congrats! When was your letter mailed out? Mine was mailed on 2/22 and I still haven't got it. I read earlier that they send them in batches, so I really hope that is the case.

sorry to be annoying but I have a 159 LSAT and 3.9 GPA and I'm applying next year early action. I'm not a URM and I'm going straight out of undergrad with a pretty good but not amazing resume by any means. Northeastern is my #1 choice, do you think I'll get in??

LSP say you're an auto-admit at northeastern. Truth be told, you should try for a higher ranked school. If you can retake the LSAT and get it 3-4 points higher you'll probably be able to get into BC or BU if you're aiming for Boston.

Not to be pessimistic or anything, but with this economy a lot of the schools are being very selective this year. Schools that you may have been an auto-admit a year or two ago can no longer be counted on as a safe bet.

But this person is talking about next cycle. Are you saying the selectivity will continue when the economic threat goes down and there are less applicants/applications?

I think that, because of the economy, schools will still get to be very selective next cycle. Once the economy improves, and less people are applying to school school, it would follow that schools won't be as selective (at least hopefully for those with lower LSAT scores, etc). However, there I think there's the possibility that because schools are being so selective now, their average LSAT/GPA numbers will go up and schools will want to maintain those numbers, so schools may stay just as selective.

I don't have anything concrete to base this on, it's just something I've thought about. But I don't think it's completely irrational.

I’m curious if any TLS members are interviewing for the Public Interest Law Scholarship next week. I applied, but didn’t receive the invitation to interview.

I hope to visit the school later this month, as I’d love to be in Boston for the next three years. My hang-up about NUSL is that it’s the fourth best law school in a saturated legal market and the cost of tuition is incredibly high for a school that focuses almost entirely on PI work. For example, if you look at the NYC market, CUNY has a similar PI focus and their tuition is only $10,000 for in-state and $17,000 out-of-state, plus a similarly high COL. I’m not certain paying ~39,000 in tuition for three years, plus the COL in Boston is doable for folks committed to public interest endeavors. I’m interested in some perspectives on how you plan to cope with loan repayment following graduation (if you finance $120,000, depending on the loan term, it’s a payment of ~$830-$1200/month). I’d love to attend NUSL, but I don’t see how I’d make a salary in PI work that would enable me to survive. For those who have decided on NUSL, what are your plans?

Anyone going to the reception and open house next month for admitted students?

I will be going. I am pretty sure that I will be attending Northeastern but I will wait to send my seat deposit until after the open house.

Maybe I'll see you next month.
