just out of curiosity - I saw UT does have some alumni go to DC, but it didn't say as to how many...is it difficult to land a job in DC as a UT grad considering the endless amount of competition from regional and national schools in that market?

If you'd rather die than work somewhere besides NYC or DC, then Penn or NYU at twice the price would be worth it. If you would like to work in NYU or DC but wouldn't mind working elsewhere if you didn't land a spot in those two cities, than Texas is by far the better deal.

As far as CA goes, Penn or NYU may do better than Texas, but not twice-the-price better.

It seems that this cycle, one would stand an equal chance of admission to Georgetown as one would to Texas, and for obvious reasons I think Gtown would be better for the DC market...

Recieved 11/4, status checker 11/13, accepted 11/16. That was FAST!

From a CSO handout it seems that about 7-8% of each of the last few graduating classes have gotten jobs in the DC area.

Its not bad, but for someone who knew they were set on DC GULC would obviously serve their purposes better.

And fwiw there are a surprisingly decent amount of UT alums at Williams and Connolly---which is probably the most prestigious firm in DC. They even do OCI at UT but not at Boalt, Cornell, and NYU.

I'd like to clarify something mentioned earlier in this thread. Was there an optional essay? I'm below 3.6 and wishing I had done a "Why Texas". I thought my 17x would secure me, but now I'm really worried. UT really would be a great school to attend.

I never saw it either.

There is nothing about it on the application on lsac or the instructions (there is an optional DS???). I also came up empty on the UT law website (http://www.utexas.edu/law/depts/admissi ... d_app.html).

So don't sweat it.
