Is it me or does it seem like much less people were put on second reserve this year than previous years? Is it possible that this "batches" theory really is true, or is it more likely that Columbia is cutting down their second reserve group much more aggressively this time around?

I was second reserve last year and don't remember it being a "thing." Like everyone who hadn't gotten accepted I think moved right to 2nd reserve? I withdrew from WL pretty soon after, but at least this year it SEEMS like there's a lot more worries about getting dinged between the WL, and it seemed like most people moved from one to the other. I was at a work conference tho so wasn't really tracking TLS the most closely. On the other hand, I can personally verify it sucks pretty hard when your WL email pops on a 10 foot screen as you're presenting to a ton of people

Has anyone received a regular mail rejection? Since I have not received an email yet, I keep waiting for the mail to arrive each day if they started mailing rejections at the same time earlier this week. At this point, no email nor snail mail. Does this mean I'm likely dinged and it's on the way, or do you think there is truth in that they will still be emailing wait list round two & interview invites next week? I'm so tempted to also contact them to see if I am also "still under review" because they consistently write that one's application status will not be discussed over the phone and the one person that posted here is the only time I have heard of them even pulling up the application on the phone.

I would call and just ask if they are still reviewing applications and if more emails are still expected.

Me. Honestly have no idea what to think anymore. Keeping the dream alive until I get a letter though.
