Re: Harvard Law School c/o 2019 Waitlist
Sorry for all the dings today. I'm sort of feeling like I beat them to the punch yesterday, because I most assuredly would have been in this round of dings.
So in my mind I broke up with Harvard instead of them breaking up with me. It just wasn't working out Harvard. Don't be sad.

I am mostly bummed I'm in the first round of WL dings for my ego's sake. Though I would be happy to be at HLS, I'm probably happier to be headed to NYC next year. I just thought I had stronger app than my cycle reflects.

Unofficial poll: who has been waiting the longest? I'll set the bar fairly high at Nov 23. I'll add that I cannot understand how I wasn't rejected today, since that seems to suggest that they're not done with interviews, or at least that they're open to interviewing more people.

I sent in what I thought was a good LOCI. I'm a reverse splitter so I knew the odds were low.berek wrote:Sorry to all those released. Had anyone who was dinged sent in a LoCI, or were you all waiting to send it?

On the bright side we were given the option to apply as a transfer student. SILVER LININGS.

Got dinged this afternoon as well. No JS1 and I had sent a LOCI shortly after getting waitlisted.

No LOCI from me. No supplements/optional stuff of any sort. Harvard was a school I applied to just for kicks, kind of. I decided pretty early on in WL season that I'd be focusing all my limited attention on schools I'd die to attend (like Chicago, who will hopefully lose people to HLS, so that a spot opens up JUST FOR ME, once they realize that someone who diligently sends LOCIs every three weeks might want to actually go to your school).

What do you write about in your LOCIs every 3 weeks??? I've written two LOCIs since March and I'm totally out of ideas already.genericwit wrote:I decided pretty early on in WL season that I'd be focusing all my limited attention on schools I'd die to attend (like Chicago, who will hopefully lose people to HLS, so that a spot opens up JUST FOR ME, once they realize that someone who diligently sends LOCIs every three weeks might want to actually go to your school).

Re: Harvard Law School c/o 2019 Waitlist
lol, I've asked this same question/lamented about it in the Chicago thread and got some great advice from other folks which unfortunately aren't applicable ideas to me but might be to you. I've written why the school, why me, resume update with new job responsibilities, how my professional experience will help me with X specific clinic I want to do, medical mission trip experiences, how my being a scientist and being eligible for the patent bar will help even though I'm going into public interest (because not a whole lot of people are eligible for the patent bar, and I wanted to make sure I pointed out that I am), a general "hey, I'm still here and want to go to your school, even though I've had to deposit at another school, oh and by the way, I visited," and I think my next one will probably be about the paper I'm finishing up co-authoring for some journals (I won't bore you with the details).Loney M. And then other people have given advice about writing about academic things and school activities, but I've been out of school since '13, so I'm hardly going to do that. Haha.

Also was dinged yesterday. No JS1 and had sent in a LOCI that I thought was pretty dang strong. A little bit of an ego blow, but I am more than happy with NYU in just a few months

How long are you guys LOCI's ? I'm running out of things to write but I feel like a paragraph is too short.

Their FAQ says "A one-page letter of continued interest or substantive resume update are good examples of relevant additions to your file." Which directly answers your question and also seems to imply that they only want people to send in one LOCI.Nlawsing wrote:How long are you guys LOCI's ? Ah ! Thank you . Definitely writing more thank one though lol I don't think that implies they only want one, more so only send substantive changes /updates.theconsigliere wrote:Their FAQ says "A one-page letter of continued interest or substantive resume update are good examples of relevant additions to your file."
