I live in Washington so my waitlist email came at 5:30 in the morning. It's like they needed to make sure it's how I started my day. That is cold, especially because the real admit envelope is thin and meager...just wait a little while and you'll see for yourselfCJRpnw wrote:Got a big envelope from Texas Law in the mail today. Opened it excitedly and it was… an unsolicited admissions brochure.

Admitted Student Days are March 3-4; There's also an Optional Mini Visit on April 1.

I got the official phone call sometime earlier this week. I sent in my application a few weeks ago. I deferred admission last year so it was just a waiting game this cycle. Good luck to everyone, Austin is a great city, (it's been in the 60's pretty consistently this week) and I'm looking forward to meeting all of you at ASD.

I don't remember who it was, but somebody else got the call on a Sunday evening. Maybe they want you to start the week in a good mood?soxnation654 wrote:spalmer94 wrote:In!

Does Texas offer any type of travel stipend for Admitted Students day?

Current 1L, so this applied last cycle: If you meet their criteria (not sure what that is) they will contact you and give 200 bucks cash during ASD.calilaw33 wrote:Does Texas offer any type of travel stipend for Admitted Students day?

Have been getting absolutely no UT love, info pack, phone call, email or otherwise
Hopefully something develops this week but hearing about a number of other OOS applicants hearing is quite depressing but congrats to everyone who has gotten the call!

Congrats! I was just thinking it had been quiet today from UT, I sent an email earlier today and hadn't heard back so I assumed they were busy and sounds like they are working late too!

How quick has the turnaround been for most people? Application "received" early January.

Re: University of Texas c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
I have an interesting question. I've had a couple of schools ask me what was up with my residency because my permanent address is in Washington state because I'm stationed up here with the Navy, but I have Texas listed as my state of residence. Being active duty I do not have to change my state of residency and I did not on purpose for law school applications. I'm wondering if maybe UT has me classified as an OOS candidate because of this, and I'm wondering if it is worth bothering admissions again (I'm on the WL and trying to keep my communication with admissions pretty scarce for a while in hopes of not pestering them) and clarifying this. Thoughts?

Re: University of Texas c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
I can't recall if UT ever communicated to acknowledge residency status during the application process, but I recall that UH was fairly communicative about it (even though they got it wrong for me until I corrected them).
Have you done an LOCI yet. I know you've gotten conflicting information about when to do it ITT (me - later; emkay - right away; I will say that my advice was more general and emkay's was based on her experience with UT in particular). That might be a good time to bring it up again, just as a dependent clause somewhere integrated in. ("As a Texas resident who plans to practice in Texas, UT is . . .").
That said, I don't think it would hurt to send admissions an email saying something like "Since I'm currently on active duty and stationed outside Texas, I wanted to verify that my residency in your files is properly reflected as Texas." Something administrative of that sort will be handled by admin assistants, unless it's actually wrong in their file and needs to be corrected, in which case it's good to get that taken care of.
Others here may have different advice.

Re: University of Texas c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
Thanks for the advice. I have a LOCI ready to go and I actually do have a sentence in there about my residency. I've just been waiting for the right time to send it. I didn't even think about the residency thing until a couple of other schools asked about it, and I know that UT has a policy of admitting more in-state students than OOS so I thought it might have hurt my application with a lower LSAT if they considered me to be OOS. At this point, I think I'll just wait until/if they respond to my email from last week and clarify it then.BVest wrote:I can't recall if UT ever communicated to acknowledge residency status during the application process, but I recall that UH was fairly communicative about it (even though they got it wrong for me until I corrected them).

Nice to see another veteran heading into the class. I was accepted last year, deferred, separated from the Air Force, and moved to Austin in November. If you have any questions feel free to PM me.
