I have never heard of this. Are you thinking of NYU?

I am also curious if no date change means anything.

On your status checker, the date for 'complete' or 'under review' changes from the previous one.

i think this year "Your application is ready for review" = "Complete" and date changes are the days your file is being reviewed. If I had to guess, we're getting close to D-day by now.

I didn't write one, only filled in the text box that asked for a reason why cornell law. I don't think it's a game changer at all, but it could be I got lucky, ymmv.

Before I applied I didn’t frequent TLS and thus wasn’t privy to all this insider info.

When I was doing the app it just seemed admissions wouldn’t want a “why cornell” essay cuz of the question in the app… but common wisdom here seems to imply it would be beneficial to write a good one

I was creeping through last year's Cornell thread, and admits starting going out on the 9th. Not too long! When I applied I had pretty much no Cornell hype, but after comparing it to other schools more I REALLY want to go to Cornell. Wish I'd written a why x now :?

Didn't you ED? Don't think they cared at that point.

But also not sure why everyone think they're disadvantaged by not writing a page long addendum full of generic reasons to like Cornell that admissions doesn't even hint that they want. The text box is perfectly adequate.

I apologize if this is a redundant question, but I'm assuming Cornell is not sending out interview invites this cycle?

I would temper my expectations for decisions on the same timeline as before.
They might do it, but it's possible that with their new dean they'll be on a different timeline.

Here's to hoping though!

Finally got a status date change today. Not expecting anything with Cornell, but I'd be overjoyed if I somehow got accepted. Guess we'll see...

2nd date change today.
Not sure if that's UR2 or 3 because I don't know if they were actually reviewing it before or not since the status just says "Your application is ready for review"
