TBlock, did you ask for moar? They said no like everyone else? Did you say with a 120, you would go?TetrisBlock wrote:105. I got an acceptance email today but I have yet to check my mail. Hopefully there's a scholarship offer in the package because the email just said that they would have an exact number for me by the end of April. Not sure what I should do about that since I'm in at GW with 60k and the seat deposit is in the beginning of April. I wanted to do some negotiating with GW if Emory offered anything but it looks like I might not even know until it's too late.

Yeah that is right on the border. If you're taking out loans and also have to pay for COL I don't think I would risk it.TetrisBlock wrote:105. No, I'm not planning on asking for more. I am seeing if either of the other two schools I'm considering will increase their offers. I'm making my decision with the assumption Emory's offer is rigid and the other two are flexible. If neither school can offer me additional money then I'll likely attend Emory, but I would rather keep debt as low as possible so hopefully either of the other schools can help me. I wish I didn't have to worry about debt and could just make these decisions based on the schools alone!LawsRUs wrote:TBlock, did you ask for moar? They said no like everyone else? In via email this afternoon! Checked snail box shortly after: empty. The email also said there is a merit scholly in the works, but I won't know the exact amount until the end of April (when they are in a better position to "maximize" it). They did say they would refund seat deposits at other schools up to $1000, so I guess it can't hurt to wait...but I want to know now!
Anyone else who received an email this week still waiting on snail mail?
I'm going to ASW next weekend, who else is coming? Anyone for Friday and Saturday?

freaking hate Emory. It makes no sense that they don't send updates of any kind. Its like I sent my money to a Madagascar prince needing help to get his 300k from his father and all he needs is my 80$.

Are you waiting for financial aid? Because April 1st is supposed to be when they release financial aid according to their website.rubberplant2020 wrote:freaking hate Emory. Re: Emory: Class of 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 Cycle)
Hello – this is Ethan Rosenzweig, the dean of Admission and Financial Aid. Thanks for indulging my postings here periodically. I wanted to provide a quick update on where we are in the process.
Decision Notifications: Over the next few days, I will be sending out additional decisions and waitlist notifications via email. We anticipate issuing the overwhelming majority of decisions by April 1st.
Wait list notification is always tough because we know you have been waiting patiently, and now, we are asking for your continued patience. Let me be clear. We will be admitting students from the waitlist. The challenge we face is that we do not want to have a class too large (reviewing some of your posts, many of you value smaller class sizes) and we want to maximize financial aid opportunities for those we admit. With this year's unique admission cycle, the waitlist is the best opportunity for us to manage our class size, provide you appropriate aid, and enroll a class of students excited about the Emory Law community.
We have two waitlists: a priority waitlist and a standard waitlist. I anticipate admitting students from both waitlists, and once we evaluate our first deposits, I will have a better idea of the timeframe process for both lists.
Visits: A few years ago, when we notified wait list applicants of their acceptance, many students mentioned that it was difficult to accept our offer since they hadn't visited the school. This year, we will invite small groups of waitlist applicants to various events. Attending an event is not a pre-requisite to admission. It simply provides opportunity for a waitlist applicant to learn about the community so that when we offer admission, it is easy to accept.
I hope this explanation assists. I encourage folks to examine our programs and community so that when I have the chance to call you to offer admission, there is the same excitement to join us as we have to offer you a seat.
Please email us if we can provide further assistance. We love to hear from you. jdadmission(at)emory.edu.

Thank you, Dean Rosenzweig.
Thanks for the magazines, and especially the employment report. I really appreciate the transparency.

You can always shoot them an email asking if you were admitted yet. I was waiting for a long time and felt something was wrong so I ended up sending an email asking. As it turned out, my acceptance package had already been sent a while ago but was somehow lost through the mailing process. They were willing to resend the physical acceptance package and sent the acceptance letter to me via email.bob311 wrote:Same. Thanks I did just that.chucktheduck wrote:

Received a one line response saying decisions will be out the end of the month. Didn't address my question at all, but I do understand it is busy. But it didn't feel very positive, which is concerning.
