I did, even though I was already admitted. But it was nice to get a semi-tailored email ("As a woman from a selective liberal arts school on the East Coast..." etc.) Did they just send one to ladies that went to liberal arts schools, or is everyone getting something a little different?

Actually I thought this was hilarious because because I got the same thing and I didn't go to a liberal arts school on the east coast :P.

I got the same one. It seemed like it's geared towards students of color since it focuses on BLSA, LLSA, etc.

In via status checker this morning.

Sent 9/16. Complete 9/25.

LSAT > 75th
GPA < 25th

No "Why Michigan?" but I had been waitlisted the previous cycle and submitted an LOCI that I think more than covered it. Was sent an e-mail asking for a GPA explanation last week (in the most polite way ever, though I expect nothing less from Michigan) and answered immediately.

I did! Mine was personalized for a Michigan resident lol

"in a typical year, about 1/5th of the Law School’s class are from Michigan. This means that well-qualified applicants who hail from Michigan are particularly likely to be admitted, even though in general, we must deny thousands of well-qualified applicants from other states every year."

Good news for us Michiganders :D

Congratulations!

You're making me nervous here though. Sent around the same time AND wrote a Why Michigan... Hope I hear back soon with some good news =D

Again.. Please let us know if the Status Checker changes the date twice in a day or not?

Like around 2 am ET, it goes on to the next date. But does it change during the day if it goes from Complete to Decision?

Just so that I won't be on the Mich law site all the time :)

I think it changes only once a day.
So if you are admitted today, you will know that tomorrow.

Quick question: I remember when I submitted my application that there was a Summer 2015 and a Summer or Fall 2015 start date to select. Is there a Fall 2015 only option? I already submitted, so I can't go back and see the options on the application--only what I selected.

I thought it was the other way around--that there was a Fall 2015 and a Summer or Fall option?

Anyways, long-story-short I was admitted for Summer. I hadnt given summer enrollment much thought. I now have to think about whether I would prefer Summer to Fall, and if I prefer Fall, how to ask for the switch.

Anyone have much information on the Summer start program? I googled it, and it seems pretty nice but I would have to leave work about 3 months earlier than I had originally planned.
Congrats!!!! :D

My tour guide when I visited started in the summer and she mentioned a few things: the lawyers club isn't open so you will have to find alternate housing, since the summer term is still part of the 2013-2014 school year you receive that year's tuition which saves you a little money, professors will sometimes hold class outside if its nice, having more grades on file made it easier for her to find something her 1L summer, and that given the choice, she would definitely pick starting in the summer again!

Also, I can attest that Ann Arbor is fantastic during the summer!

Also also, if you don't mind sharing, stats/dates??

Fuck!! I wrote a lot and all of the sudden, safari broke down. Shame on you Apple!!!

Anyway, here we go again.

Pros:

1. There will be three semesters for you 1L, which means you can 1) gradually get into the life of law school without too much pressure at first, since you will have only 3 instead of 4 doctrinal courses for your first semester 2) choose the electives from your 2L, this can be a big advantage for some people. Make sure you consult the 2Ls and 3Ls to make sure which professors give lenient curve or in which courses you are only asked to write a paper instead of actual exam. This will possibly boost your 1L GPA, which is like the most important thing for law school. (well obviously, there stands a chance that you will decrease your GPA if you do a bad job in one or more of the electives)

2. Summer Starters seem to bond really really well. And professors are relatively more free compared to the madness in fall/winter.

3. You can either finish law school one semester earlier, OR take a semester off during your 2L/3L and graduate with other fall starters. That means you can either 1) take the Feb bar and start working half a year earlier than most graduates (which I highly doubt due to the economy. Not that many law firms are willing to pay you for 6 months more when they are totally okay with having them after June) 2) do the dual degree program without having to graduate 1 year later. Law firms recruitment process is quite standard, OCI- 2 SA - Return Offer - Associate after graduation. You will be in much less trouble if you decided to do the dual degree and the summer start at the same time. 3) do internship, travel, whatever you might want to do.

Cons

1. Three consecutive 1L semesters are a serious burnout. SERIOUSLY.

2. According to some fall starters, summer starters seem to not be able to bond quite well with fall starters. Yet this is definitely personal and individual-determined, you can surely build some strong connections with fall starters if you want.

3. You will have to find alternate housing before lawyers club starts. That means that if you want to live in lawyers club during your 1L, you will have to move your stuff from your summer house to new place, which is not that big a deal actually.

Anyway, I ED'd, so if I ever got admitted, I'd be definitely doing summer start. I will surely enjoy it, methinks.
