Ucla doesn't have better employment than USC, in fact if you take away the school provided jobs(meanth to artificialy raise employment stats) USC is better.cron1834 wrote:No worries, I only meant the Vandy > UCLA bit. I even suspect USC can help more than Duke Mich and other T10s as far as CA jobs go.
Congrats to the other admits as well!!!
I've gotten into both Vandy and UCLA, so I'm not rationalizing here, fyi. USC Law is known for "hyper-regional" placement in Southern California. The Trojan Network is a real consideration for opportunities in LA county and OC.

^ If you're judging based on 501+ placement then at least USC has an edge on Vandy and UT. But a 4.4% difference in 2012 is almost statistically insignificant... my take is that it's personal preference between UCLA and USC.

Umm, no. According to Law School Transparency, UCLA is at 70.0 overall, excluding school funded, and USC is at 69.2. Plus, SOME school-funded jobs lead to real jobs - they aren't ALL bogus. Plus plus, UCLA is at 39.0 for Biglaw/Fedclerk, while USC is at 37.6.zman wrote:Ucla doesn't have better employment than USC, in fact if you take away the school provided jobs(meanth to artificialy raise employment stats) USC is better.cron1834 wrote:No worries, I only meant the Vandy > UCLA bit. UCLA > USC, unless LST has it all wrong somehow.

The differences are negligible. Go to the one that gives you more money. If equal cost just pick the one you like better.

Speaking of which -- scholarship information follows acceptance quickly at USC if I'm not mistaken?

Was at Committee 2nd read on 1/16, then updated to Committee 2nd read today. I didn't know they did date changes without stage-in-application changes.

I was looking at the old thread from last year and that was the case last year. This year they are taking a different approach, I think they are waiting to see if they can maintain their medians.jstep wrote:yagoden wrote:The differences are negligible. My status date just updated again today... Last date change was just last week.
Anyone know how many date changes one can expect before a decision? I would really like to start weighing my choice between them and UCLA.

School funded jobs are understood to be employment boosters for US news, they are not real jobs just short term(over 90% over them).cron1834 wrote:Umm, no.
